Haven't been there (YET fingers crossed I get the call one day), but presumably the BBC will find somewhere else. Presumably everything is sorted for upcoming series though, surely that isn't threatened?

There were rumours of them moving closer to where Jeremy lives, but this was only a rumour and months ago.

We should start a petition against this, like DD said, I think it would work. We have to save Dunsfold!

Nah! Top Gear should come to Enstone! It's lovely and much easier to get to than the arse-end of Surrey... and fifteen minutes from my house

just feel sorry that's it's a bit of England lost to concrete again erm... I would miss Dunsfold as much as ther Next Top Gear fan, but it's a racing circuit now, not exactly National Heritage territory. I read that the main reason why there is so much opposition in the area, is that the infrastructure over there cannot cope with hunderds, maybe thousands new people living there. www.surreyad.co.uk/news/2027/2027219/exclusive__dunsfold_park_plans_being_unveiled

They do this to everything; spoil it I mean. Why build on anything else? Would they rebuild the track exactly as it is or get Luxus to build another one?

Dunsfold Park actually has a lot of historical significance, though obviously in its current usage that is not as obvious as when it was under the ownership even of BAe Systems. I agree with Lew, it's just sad to see another part of England under threat from the ever-advancing tide of concrete. The thing is, even if the significance or otherwise of the park is disregarded, it is in a lovely part of the country and the infrastructure to support a community of around 6,350 residents will impact negatively on numerous communities in the surrounding areas - not to mention on the work of the Surrey Air Ambulance, which is currently based at the airfield. The consultation period on this is still running, by the way - until 30th May 2008. There is a lot more information on this on the "Stop Dunsfold Park New Town" website - www.sdpnt.com/There is a lot more at stake than Gambon and The Hammerhead...

I don't see the point of building houses where i live there quite a few new and old houses that are not selling. And given the choice i would rather have a old house you get more house for your money.

No new builds now. Not for a couple of years I would think. The bottom has fallen out of the new build market. So I've heard.

I could understand people moaning if Dunsfold came after the houses but people really can't buy a house next to a race track and moan about there being a race track. I heard they tried to move TG before but people stopped it where ever it was going to be moved to.

I could understand people moaning if Dunsfold came after the houses but people really can't buy a house next to a race track and moan about there being a race track. But people love to moan. I used to live near an airfield that was built just prior to the Second World War (in actual fact, the one where James learned to fly, not that I knew about that at the time LOL) and you would not believe the amount of people who griped about the planes. They're only tiny little ones, nothing like Jumbo's or anything (although there was a very low level fly past by a huge jet at an airshow held there some eyars ago). Yet people would always be complaining about those planes. The airfield was probably built before most of the complaining people were even BORN. I lived in that house for the age of 2, up until I was 31. You get used to the noise!! [/rant}

I know what you mean a town next door to mine has a roll Royce factory i think it opened just before world war 1 or during not too sure. These day's though there are no planes landing or taking off they just build the engine and once in a blue moon you are supposed to hear something called a boom test but i never heard it and i do not know anyone who has. But the town has now become what they call a commuter town so all these people have moved in to these new shoe boxes and i have heard they have a moan about god knows what from time to time. With the pits and the textile factory's gone it one of the few places left where you can get what we call a proper job lol.

The whole moaning thing is ridiculous, it's like moving near an airport then complaining about the planes!

Where does it say that the people living near Dunsfold are complaining about noise. There are no doubt some complaints, but the discusssion has been that the present infrastructure over there cannot cope with thousands new people living there. So in fact, people want the race trrack to stay.
