Rather yummy picrture of Mr May there with the pint, I think he always looks good in that blue velvet jacket!
I can hear the people of the advertising agency discussing the photo shoot: "James, much as we love your stripey jumpers....."
This also went through my mind when looking at that lovely lovely promo pic. His eyes are so blue, as though they've been photoshopped.. or is that just me?
I like the fact that he's chosen to lend his personality to this campaign, it suits him. If only he'd come to my "local" and serve me a pint...

Very funny article from the local newspaper.
James: “I love beer, I love London Pride and now, after this campaign, I’m hoping I can move into the brewery permanently and possibly even be adopted by the Fuller’s family. I’m not sure they’ll go for it, but it’s worth a try,”
Brewery guy: "“He knows a good beer when he tastes one – London Pride is his local and favourite beer - so it wasn’t hard to persuade him to work with us. Although a couple of free pints and a pork pie did help.”

No need for Photoshop; having met him a couple of times (at booksignings), I can confirm that they really are that blue!
I shall be interested to see these adverts when they are finally aired, although I suspect that seeing James in that context might take some getting used to. Also, while I can understand why his line is "This the one thing I'll walk somewhere for", I reckon it would have been just as good if they'd had him say 'run' instead of 'walk'. Knowing how he feels about running on TV, and all that!
"Never stop being a kid. Never stop feeling and seeing, and being excited with great things like air and engines and sounds of sunlight within you. Wear your little mask if you must, to protect you from the world, but if you let that kid disappear you are grown up and you are dead."
In some other pics James does indeed have very blue eyes, but I've never seen them that intense.
Oh, to see for myself...
I suppose it would depend on the level and nature of the light, but when I saw him, the colour of his eyes could be easily discerned from several metres away. That's certainly not possible with everyone!

Can't wait to see these adverts and that pic is so yummy .................. *THUD* What a fab new picture to return to after my holiday. James has done it again, turned me to a quivering jelly. Must head for the NC to read some of the comments that must have been made about this pic.
I always knew James and good taste, London Pride is one of my faves along with Speckled Hen.

Not only is that a good pic for us but I shared this story with a male friend who loves real ale and knows of my admiration for James and his very words were "and the picture is a good one too, he looks so at home with that pint" to which I replied "oh yes that pic has gone in my special collection" ....... "I bet it has" he replied............. *gulp* not sure what this says about my male friend!

I don't know if the ad campaign runs in the UK, but in the US there's a Mexican brand called "Dos Equis" whose ads feature "The Most Interesting Man in the World." Said Most Interesting Man is introduced with a list of improbable facts ("He's been Best Man for grooms he's never met." "He's never needed lip balm." "He once visited a psychic -- to warn her.") and ends with the Man himself delivering the tagline: "I don't always drink beer, but when I do I prefer Dos Equis."
What would James be if London Pride ran a similar campaign? The Most Polite Man in the World?

Yes!!! Thanks for posting, lindenchase! Where to start? The blue velvet, the eyes.. the voice... * puddle of goo *
Also, I'd like to try a pint of that beer. But that's just because it's a highly effective commercial. Nothing to do with me lusting after James or anything.
