Next time. you'll have to hold up a placard, or be wearing one of those comedy arrow-through-the-head things or something.
Anything to get noticed!

Putting a couple of caps in the Members' Photos thread. I don't know how to do clips, as it's on the ITV iPlayer, but if anyone's seriously interested and can get the iPlayer I've got the details of the tiny handful of seconds I'm onscreen - PM me. (I don't think anyone actually will, and believe me, I won't be offended!)

It's my 33rd wedding anniversary today. We plan to celebrate a month late when the restraunts will be quieter, the last two anniversary meals have been spoilt by rowdy office parties.

I went out and bought myself a brand new car yesterday. I've been threatening to do this since late last year and finally got around to it yesterday. I've bought a Ford Fiesta Zetec S in nautical blue (blue is about the only colour I haven't had in a car) - it's lovely, and better still there is zero road tax to pay. I take delivery at the end of next week. I'm very excited

Congrats! I just read a bit about it, and it sounds like a car that offers a lot of fun for your money. Also, isn't it a great feeling being able to order a brand new car? (I remember feeling positively decadent when I ordered my 500C, but then cars are a lot more expensive here because of tax. ;D)

I think it is only the second or third time in my life I've had a brand new car, all the others have been nearly news or ex demonstrators. I think cars are quite expensive here too, but I got a really, really good deal good i.e. the salesman, on the third time, came back to me with his rock bottom price and I managed to get an extra £1,600 off that.

I've never had a new car.
Nothing too unusual about that, of course. Just thought I'd sound all peevish and whiney

I have good news! Have managed to secure a grant worth $180K from the state government and the local council to construct a roof over our riding arena (I'm involved with Riding for the Disabled for those who don't know). Woohoo, out of the sun and protected from the rain at last. Very happy camper here! That's great; how's it coming along?

Sounds great, love good deals! I agree with those asking for pictures. Re. price levels: Whenever I watch Top Gear, I think "I should move to England and buy a cool car". For instance: I bought my car 2 years ago. This is a similarly equipped new car, except mine came with 2 sets of alloys at the same price: www.finn.no/finn/car/used/object?finnkode=33575866 At todays exchange rates, that equals appr. 25.700 £. The same car would cost somewhere around 12-14000 £ new in England (guessing, since I couldn't find one with leather seats). Taking my 25.700 and moving to England, I could get a new Toyota GT86 and still have a bit left to spend on track days. I love my Fiat and it's a perfect fit for me. But the car prices here are just crazy.

That is a glorious thing Fizzy. You're right about car prices here in OZ. Totally crazy. Which is why OH and I drive boring cars. But, we are working on it....
