I definitely think I should take my test in Gerald. My instructor reckons they go easier on people in old cars, because doing otherwise would be a bit scary. I don't think I even got up to 50mph. Made up for that today, though, bombing down the A50 overtaking trucks.

Unfortunately, to take my test in Gerald I've discovered he would need to be able to do a sustained 100kph (62mph) and he can't. Then again, if I can get through my test without going above 50mph it might not be too bad... because according to Gerald's handbook he has a top speed of 84mph.
Not any more, he doesn't, but I don't think his engine rebuild will be too much longer, and he might have a bit more POWWEEERRR after that!

"Dear Top Gear. I have an old Triumph. Can you tune him to be able to do a sustained 62 mph in two days with a budget of 500 pounds?"

The only problem with that is that I'd quite like to have a car left when they've finished...

But I'm sure Hammond would add some lovely flame decals on the sides...

Heh. Heinz really proved himself today, we got bonged at a few times for cruising at 74mph.

Sorry to drag this back on-topic:
1. Learn to play the piano 2. Have a go at creative writing (that's mainly down to this board ;D) 3. Embrace my inner nerd (and that of my husband- ooh er!)

This weekend I took the plunge and purchased a Brompton after many years of wanting one. James first brought them to my attention. I now have a very sore bottom

You may remember that on page 1 of this thread I said how kids at my school admire James, despite him being what would normally be considered "uncool"? Well, I think I've found a Fail.
One lad saw my screensaver today and said, "Oh, you like Top Gear?" We then had a quick conversation in which he told me that his favourite is Jeremy, then asked me who I liked. When I said James, he made that little "meh" mouth kids make, and when I asked him why he said "Don't like him. He's old-fashioned".
So I very tactfully replied, "Ah, perhaps he appeals to older people, then".
Whereupon said 11-year-old said, "Yeah, that'd be it", and trotted away.

The main thing James has inspired me to do is eat more pies.
Which is why I'm now on a diet.
He's also partially responsible, in a very roundabout sort of way, for me buying another motorbike. Or two.
And because some of the people on here had a go at drawing the TG3, he's inspired me to pick up a pencil again (though I put it down before I got around to drawing Jeremy!).
