Aww, that's sweet! She's probably sitting in her office going "James, your fan girls are off again!" LOL ;D That's sweet of Fiona - she replies always very soon after Ive sent her an email, like that about her. Thankgod James' injury isn't as bad as it can be.

I fell down stairs forwards in heels at a play, the worst I got was my shoulder bruised and banged up. Poor man is very unlucky and it's got to be very hard on him not to laugh b/c it hurts. Good luck and get better soon sir. Btw, I know of a good ahem "nurse" if you should need anything, like a sponge bath, or just...whatever.

Daft bugger. Get the pub to send round plates of pie and mash to build you up till you're mended. And next time you try flying, make sure you're in the plane first.
Still, could be worrse. If it had happened during a series of Man Lab, Sim might have tried doing repairs with the contents of his toolbox...

Ah, Simmy I'm sure he has all the 'finesse' that James loves to talk about. Imagine Clarkson trying to do the repairs. Now that would be terrifying.

It's bad times when you throw yourself down a flight of stairs to get away from Jeremy Clarkson....
James, old boy; hope you have a nice few weeks off your head on ridiculously strong painkillers.
Remember to make your poor other half's life a complete misery in the way that chaps always do when they are ill.
In fact, yes. Sympathies to your girlfriend too!

Be very very careful with strong painkillers. And lets just leave him in peace to get well. That is all :-).

Get well soon & dont laugh too much. I did and it was agony but also quite entertaining for others to watch. You have to have have a sense of humour about these things, helps the healing proces i think.
I didnĀ“t fall down the stairs though, got thrown from a horse.

Sending get-well soon thoughts from this side of the pond--rest and catch up on your reading, won't you? (There are some great stories in the "fiction" section, just saying!!! ) And watch your step, dear boy!

Yes, watch your step! If you can, James, try to get off any narcotic meds as fast as you can manage it. Oxycodone, Oxycontin, etc. Narcotics are fine for the first few days but get off of them! They might help your pain but they wreak havoc with the digestive system and you might wind up sick to your stomach more than once. Try generic Naproxen if you can, it'll save you some money too.

Does anyone remember Jeremy's column where he wrote something about..."if James were hurt, he'd just go get a bandaid and go back to work." It seems slightly prophetic now, but I can't locate it to post the relevant parts.

It seems slightly prophetic now, but I can't locate it to post the relevant parts. That isn't surprising in the least. James is the last person to take a sick day; even if he was bleeding, broken and bruised, he'd still muscle on. It's that work ethic of his. I'm reminded of the Middle East special, when he got a concussion..he got his head bandaged and was in the hospital for only a short while and he got right back up and continued on. He doesn't strike me as the sort of person to whine about something minor or serious and believes work supersedes everything else, even his health. I just hope when he takes well-deserved breaks, he leaves work out of it entirely and just lets his mind relax. It isn't very good for him to constantly be in work mode.
