Craig Lowndes to take on Jeremy Clarkson in Ashes of football, on wheels
Jeremy Clarkson talks to Craig Lowndes after driving his Holden performance car on an earlier visit to Australia
THE Ashes may be back safe in Australian hands, but come March another equally fierce rivalry with the Old Dart begins.
And Australia has recruited a star quick of another kind in the form of three-time V8 champion Craig Lowndes.
The V8 Supercar's "best and fairest" will join Aussie duo Shane Jacobson and Steve Pizzati to take on BBC hosts Jeremy Clarkson, James May and the Stig in the Ashes Special of Car Football.
Playing soccer while driving three-wheel Reliant Robin cars is just one of the many "stupid challenges'' Lowndes will take part in as he joins his fellow panellists to host the highly anticipated Top Gear Festival Sydney in March.

"I've always been a big fan of Top Gear,'' Lowndes said.
"I've had a sneak peek at the schedule for 2014 and it looks great, it'll be a lot of fun.''
Steve Pizzati, left, with Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond, will also take on Blighty.
The event will be on the weekend of March 8 and 9 at Sydney Motorsport Park, Eastern Creek.
