If you mean the one beginning with A, I don't live close to one of those. I have near to me 2 of the places beginning with T.

Thank goodness we both know what we are on about!! Are we allowed to mention specific shops on here or is it wise just to stay as general as possible, for what reason though?

I get moods like that all the time. Though, when I partake of a touch of the comical personality, I tend to speak in a rather Victorian tone. I believe it may be Victorian, or possibly earlier. Having the time to study such things is a luxury that I cannot indulge in presently.

It's fine to tell us where there is a Top Gear bargain, I myself normally use Amazon or Waterstones depends on my mood....though now the crispy crunch is on, it looks like my time may be spent trawling here for the "where to get the cheapest book"

I usually go to Tesco to get my books, only 'cause it's the nearest place to me that does them, if I drive into town I'll go to Waterstones. But I very rarely leave my house....... ;D

I was listening to episode 74 of Gareth Jones on Speed and the guys (Gareth Jones, TG script editor Richard Porter and the slightly mysterious Zog) discuss The Big Book of Top Gear, which was primarily written by Mr Porter. It seems James was amused by 'his' map of the world... Zog: I do like the James May Map of the World GJ: (laughs raucously) Haha, that was my favourite when we looked at that. RP: I’m very proud of it… the thing that I’m most proud about that is the one person who likes that more than anyone is James May, because I thought he might have been a bit cross about it, that I’d suggested that he thinks, for example, that Brazil is called ‘South Mexico’. Zog: Next to West Mexico RP: He actually… I’m sorry, it sounds like I’m just blowing my own trumpet in an appalling way, but when I showed that to James, he laughed so much a bit of tea came out of his nose.

Sorry to bring an old topic up, but I've ordered a copy of this from the BBC America online shop!
Amazon was out, and Barnes and Noble said shipping a copy would take a few weeks...if only I had some proper patience. Which I don't. An attempt at looking around for one in Borders prompted a computer search. The result said that the bloody thing wasn't even published yet....WHAT?!?
I decided to see if the Beeb America shop had any. Sure enough, they had it in stock. The only minor complaint is that it cost me a little more than it would have at Amazon, if Amazon had it. However, I got free shipping so I guess that offsets things. I got an e-mail earlier this evening saying the book's been shipped, so now comes the fun part of waiting.

IT CAME TODAY!! *does happy dance*
While I question the packaging methods of the BBC America shop (no bubblewrap and a nice gaping hole in the side of the envelope), the book came in one piece and surprisingly not on fire.
I haven't really gotten a chance to go through all of it, just a few random pages. Of the random stuff I've seen, I busted out laughing when at the Dacia Sandero, the used car sales advert, and the page of letters pertaining to Kristen Scott Thomas. I'll probably read more of it tonight.

I have a question... Hubby had this bought for him by a friend for his birthday, and his copy is slightly different from mine, which I bought when it came out... at the back, after the index, there's a page of 'Errata', a joke list of corrections to the book ie: P89 Photograph depicts James May and NOT as stated 'The Chilean Under-minister for Trousers, Postal Disputes and Light ViolenceDoes anybody else have this?

Nor in mine, which I bought when it was first published. The extra section must have been added in later editions.
