There used to be a video of him giggling on Youtube, but it was withdrawn for some obscure reason. I only noticed after the 4th or 5th visit to My Favourites that day.
He - ostensibly, at least - didn't pass his driving test on his first go and studied Music at Lancaster University.

What's this about James not buying Christmas presents? Why not? Adding this to his girlfriend's revelation that he gave her a train (for HIS train set) for her birthday... and he isn't looking like prime boyfriend material in this particular area. All very attractive, uncl him not giving presents with Christmas..

Even though I've been wondering the corridors of the JMB for some time now I've never seen this thread before! Just read through all of it and it's brilliant ;D However quite distrubingly the only image I have in my head now is one of James and a condom..... I think I need help.....

I read in an interview that when Richard was in the hospital after his accident that James brought him Legos. Apparently, Richard is also a big fan of Lego, and working with them was good for his recovery. I think that was both smart and sweet of James.

I watched an old series 7 episode where they were playing with outdoor toys and Jeremy mentioned James wouldn't ride on a 4 wheeler(American term) or quad bike as he'd had an operation on his.. can or butt to be blunt.

He could always go on the quad bike and I could rub his lovely bottom for him....

From the hints and rumours that were going around at the time you might not actually want to go right there, no matter how much you think of James!
Though it has to be said that there was an equally believable school of thought that the 'damaged bottom' lines were just an elaborate joke for the show!

I might draw up a list of all the things James has done... I have pictures and books and DVDs, so I should do it. When I have I will stick it here. Sort of like the 1001 uses for James only real.

James has also mentioned on his drive to the studio a few years ago that he likes the vibration of the Porsche's engine on his coccyx (tailbone). Getting your coccyx broken, shattered or otherwise fractured is excruciatingly painful. I wonder if that was the operation Jeremy was alluding to.

There might have been a pinched nerve down there as well.. maybe a herniation of the disk right above his butt bone.

Thinking along the pinched nerve idea, I wonder if he had sciatica? It would certainly be painful, but you wouldn't need surgery to treat that... Sign me up as another one who wasn't sure if it was an elaborate joke or not

I'm pretty sure it wasn't a joke. James didn't look too pleased when Jeremy brought it up and I distinctly heard JC say coccyx (my training coming in very handy) when they were being boys on bikes. Like JC says, you have a weakness, you die on the show. I loved it when they all went offroading in those toys... JC says, "I've definitely been killed...."

He used to go fishing with his dad in Whitby.... Which is my favourite place. I want to buy James a Pie in the Humble Pie shop and a pint at The Duke of York!

To quote Jeremy: "I went on the internet and I found this...." It popped up in the right sidebar of my Google search results for "James May." When I saw that Woman's name was listed as "Spouse" my heart, admittedly, skipped a beat. Then I realized that, duh, it was a typo. Also, I really hate the photo they use for him on Wikipedia. I found an old article from the Radio Times on t'internet earlier and it seems to have a couple of facts that either I've seen a variety of different versions of or are new to me. As they're based directly on an interview I think we must assume they're true:
I've seen a number of suggestions as to exactly what his father's profession was "I spent my formative years in the north of England - my dad ran steel and aluminium foundries"
Partly where his practical skills came from "....a gap year in which he qualified as a foundry technician in Derbyshire"
Knew the first part, not the second (though I'm not surprised) "Not only does he play the harpsichord, he's a dab hand at repairing it"

Thanks for the info, dit. I thought he must have had a gap year, cos he was in the same academic year as me and yet he graduated a year later (1985). He really is multi-talented, isn't he?

I was thinking that I'd heard all these facts before, but I probably just read this interview in RT.
There was once a rumour that his dad was a vicar, but that was on Wiki and was later removed
