More yummy car goodness today.
In no particular order, we saw a blue and white 1950s Humber Super Snipe (a car I love, but I had to look it up just to make sure my eyes weren't deceiving me), a dark green Morris Minor ragtop (like a Morris Minor version of Gerald really), a lovely convertible Aston Martin that had disappeared before we had a chance to work out what it was, a silver Diahatsu Copen, a bright red Lotus Esprit and a Citroen DS (the proper kind, not the modern 'DS' range). There was also a very poorly looking Nissan Figaro with a stoved-in backside (we saw a nice pale green one earlier, too). Earlier on, MF and XJ spotted a Rolls-Royce, but I didn't see it so I don't know what it was.
And then there was a real treat... a Ssangyong Rexton. Mmm...
Bizarrely, I think I've seen as many Smart ForFours today as I've seen in the last year! Everywhere we turned another one turned up. I can't understand that at all...

Gerald's got another little sister in the neighbourhood! I saw a lovely little black Dolly Sprint this afternoon - much better condition than the one I saw last week and the engine sounded sweet too. Great little car.
Much nicer than the Bentley Continental GTC I'd just passed - it had been given one of those godawful, tasteless matt black paint jobs so beloved of chavs and those terrible car modifiers at car shows that make everything look like it's been covered in blackboard paint. There are some cars (not many, but a few) that can get away with the matt black thing. The Bentley Continental GTC is definitely NOT one of them.

Those are both absolutely fab, but I particularly love the Desoto because I love when cars get a bit entropic (as long as they're not mine, because then it's just annoying). Anyway, these are my recent sightings... Nissan Cube. I know they're small and funny looking, but so am I. I can relate to this. You don't see them very often and I really do like kei cars. Sunbeam Rapier fastback coupé *sigh*. This is just gorgeous, in brilliant nick and turned up out of the blue last weekend.

Would you believe that there are TWO Nissan Cubes running around Carnforth I think they look rather sweet too. Wy, are you a fan of American Hotrod? It's on Quest TV at 7pm and if you like classic American motors it's brilliant. I can imagine Hamster glued to the tele every night ;D

I'll have to watch that some time - I love classic American cars I often sit around being perplexed at the Saga advert with the smiling older people driving around in an Edsel (why? Who came up with that? It's just a bit surreal) and I'm hoping that when I turn 40 I can treat myself to a Mustang!

Lots of sightings while I was away for a few days in Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire earlier this week, but sadly no photos as I saw them all on the road while I was driving. However, not a bad haul for 3 days (in order of sightings):
Ferrari 430 (woo!) in navy blue, near Chatsworth House - just gorgeous lines, but probably the dullest colour it's possible to get it in.
Silver Jag XF - one of my favourites
Bright orange Lotus Evora
Another Ferrari, dark grey, don't know what model
Then in Cheshire, the Aston Martin dealership in Wilmslow, with a whole fleet of black, shiny cars displayed across the pavement. So stunning I nearly wet myself (sorry). I slowed down to pull up and take a photo, but an overpreserved woman in a massive 4X4 got right up my trumpet and I had to drive on.
Half a mile further I was nearly walloped by a DB9 convertible that pulled out of a gated estate without looking.
I stopped at a place called "Cheshire Smokehouse" - found it by accident a few years ago, the sort of place it's worth going just to look at the carpark. Various huge Audis and BMWs (and also a pretty little van that said "Specialist Equestrian Laundry" on the side - who puts horses in the tumbledryer?) but also a silver Porsche Carrera with the numberplate JK5. Has he got a place in Cheshire?
Finally I stopped at a supermarket where, just in my bit of the car-park there were 3 other mini convertibles just like mine (newer, of course) and also a silver Porsche GT2.
So, on the whole, there was plenty to look at on my travels!
(There's a pink Fiat (Panda? Punto?) at a local garage; I'll try to get a pic of it tomorrow. Also, this afternoon I saw an old Fiat 500 - one with a numberplate that finished with 'L' - and I'd forgotten just how incredibly tiny they were).

That's certainly an impressive list, Dit! We saw a few old Fiat 500s in Paris last weekend, they're soooo sweeeeeeet!

That DeSoto is a Firedome and it dates from about 1956. Decided I'd look it up. Pity it's all manky, they're great looking things when they're not knackered ;D

Saw these 2 a few doors away from a friend I was visiting this afternoon. And I so want that car, watching a Miss Marple, (of course the late great Miss Hickson,) and this car was there, an Austin I believe (correction in order)......so want one.

While walking along Bond Street yesterday, I saw a lovely classic Porsche sports car parked alongside the kerb. I had to look it up later, but it turns out that it was a 356. It looked like this one, but with darker paintwork:- Attachments:

I'm in Northwich at the moment and there were some lovely cars backing up the cavalcade at Thundersprint. However, they don't count as spottings as far as I'm concerned, because they were part of the event.
It was an interesting day for car spotting though - walking through Northwich later in the day, I spotted a Triumph Vitesse (dark grey), an extremely rare Heinkel bubble car (bright red) an E-type Jag (white) and to top it off, a dark green Triumph TR4 (looked like Gerald's sportier older brother). Not bad, for a day that was really all about motorbikes!

I've just seen my first Ferrari California in the wild. Phwoar. I'm not sure what I wanted to do to it, but it wasn't driving. I'm not even a Ferrari girl normally, but goodness, that thing was stunning.

This lunchtime I had to pop out for a few bits of shopping and I saw a silver Porsche 928 - the same model Jeremy drove in the cheap Porsche challenge, but unlike the one Jeremy drove, this one was immaculate

A canary yellow convertable Courvette drove past the house today. It certainly made me turn my head,as we are in commuter car territory here. It stood out head and shoulders above anything else around, with the possible exception of the pale yellow Rolls (registration number TI TYS,) that occasionally drives past on a Sunday outing.

Saw something a bit special today. I was at Television Centre and this was parked outside... I know it's hard to tell from this photo, but it's a bright red Audi quattro. Not just any red Audi quattro, mind you - it's a very famous one! Yes, this is the quattro, as in "Fire up..." - Gene Hunt's Audi ;D Just about made my day!

Had a good sighting on Saturday. I was on my way through London (a friend was driving) and when we pulled up at the traffic lights, this pulled up next to us... Can you tell what it is yet? Here it is leaving us in its dust! Yep, a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport (the convertible version) in classic Bugatti blue. I may have squeaked quite a lot. The chap driving it laughed at me ;D

I saw it too, I was in the same trafffic jam, a few hundred yards further back and saw it steam past in the bus lane. We both saw a Ferrari with the top down just as the clouds burst, but they must have been 2 different ones! Driving home through the town centre tonight we saw 3 Aston Martins and a TVR coming the other was as well.
