My OH and I saw a red Lotus Esprit on the M4 yesterday afternoon, while on the way home from an afternoon trip to Windsor. It was a rather nice-looking car!

Another good spotting day though inevitably didn't have a proper camera with me (took photos on my phone but don't know what to do with them when I've got them!)
Lunchtime - Aston Martin DBS in that lovely, heavy gun-metal silver that I want my next Mini convertible in. What an astonishingly beautiful piece of machinery! I've never seen one in the wild (in a pub carpark, to be precise)
Then in the afternoon, a very pretty car in black with fab coachwork, as in 'I wonder how many coats of paint there are on that'. Not a car I've ever seen before, and when I looked it up it's not as expensive as I expected either - would have thought it would be supercar league - Mercede CLS 320 CDi.
Lovely!

What a noise! Just saw an all black Ferrari 458 growling down the high street. Low gear, high revs... May have had a bit of a crisis!

I saw quite a lot of lovely cars on my little jaunt to Paris. Maserati seems to be the badge of choice, followed by Ferrari then Porsche. Funnily enough, they were virtually all black, except an old (70s/80s) Maserati in bright red, and a stunningly beautiful elderly Saab convertible in a subtle shade of sage green.
Coincidentally, when I switched on Dave an hour or so ago, TG was the one where they take the supercars into Paris. I noticed that the only road sign that's clearly readable is for the area I stayed in at the weekend (Place de St Cloud) and I had a little moment when they drove three abreast down the Champs Elysees, as I was there twice on Saturday (daytime and nighttime) and both times I stood and imagined/remembered them driving down there together.

Today when hubby and I were driving back home from grocery shopping an unusual looking car was coming toward us. My husband was at the wheel so I was the first one to notice it and said a little perplexed, isn't that, eh, hmm, Audi R8? The car went whizzing past us and hubby confirmed, it was an R8. I'd never seen one anywhere else but on TV and in car magazines! It was dark gray in color and incredibly stylish. Don't think I'd want one for myself but it was really nice to see it with my own eyes - for the 20 odd seconds I managed to catch of it, that is. ;D

Almost forgot, when I went to Freeport, Maine yesterday, I saw a beautiful blue Subaru Impreza all decked out, hood scoop, the lot. Then I noticed the license plate. "STIG" Had to give the driver a thumbs up as I went past! ;D
Also saw a lovely, old Porsche Carrera in red. Didn't see it long enough to suss which Carrera model though.

One of my problems is that, unless the car I'm looking at is parked and I'm standing next to it, I don't always know what model it is. I'm usually driving on my own when I see the good stuff. So I tend to say I've seen a Ferrari but can't necessarily name the model precisely!

The secret is to get right up the chuff of the vehicle and hopefully you can clock the badge (or more likely watch said vehicle disappear in a roar of sound as you tootle along behind )

I'm so glad it's not just me who can't tell one model from another without reading the badges! It's really not just you! I can\t tell some models of car apart without having to stare quite closely at them first. I have two very rare sightings to report - rare and much excitements! The other day, parked up innocently outside work, i found a shiny red Noble......I was going to call TOH for a lift anyway, and so I got him to bring his camera too ;D Pictures do exist, and once i find them, one shall be appearing. But. That one got totally trumped yesterday by my very first sighting of a Veyron in the wild. Even going at 50 (or whatever the speed limit was), that was a glorious noise *dribbles* Just out of interest, does anybody know if Jay Kay owns a Veyron? Because he's the only person living round my way (and he does...about three miles from me) that I can think of that might have one.

Coo, I'd love to see a Veyron, outside of car shows, that is.
I've just had a nice moment; I was on the way back from the podiatrist (what an exciting life I lead!) and was stationary at lights at a crossroad when an orange Maserati, an older model, came round the corner quite slowly - it's a tricky corner. I stared and went "Ooo!" (he wouldn't have been able to hear me but could see), he slowed down further, grinned back and then just floored it, disappearing with that thrilling engine noise. Was brill!
I've been surprised how many really good cars there are in my area. On Saturday I saw three Astons, all black (a DB9, a Volante and a Vantage) and a white Ferrari, not sure which model. Someone's got money!

I was in Henley-on-Thames at the weekend and the place was littered with super cars and the odd rolls royce or 2 or 6 I too saw a black masserrati, (the one driven by our James recently) such a nice looking car, shame the old fa*rt behind the wheel didn't suit the car. Saw quite a few Lambourghinis and a very nice Aston Martin DB9S, now the driver of that did suit his car! Then on sunday as I was leaving a grey ferrari F430 pulled up beside me, for a split second as I saw it approach in my mirror I had kittens Needless to say it wasn't the man himself....so if anyway wants to home a kitten ;D

Nearly got shoved off a narrow country road by a brumming Ford GT yesterday. The tragedy was it was being driven by a very old man whose head you could hardly see above the steering wheel. It seemed a bit of a waste.

As I was at a junction waiting to turn left, a beatiful TVR Tuscan, in a fantastic shade of blue pulled up next to me to turn right. The burble of the engine was divine (the driver was quite good looking too.)

Tuscans do seem to come in beautiful colours there's one that I see quite a bit, that's a gorgeous metallic orange with a purple-y sheen to it.

TVR in particular seems to be quite notable for its use of two-tone paint. I've always liked it, especially the purple-turquoise combination.

My TVR was all one colour and no metallic sheen (perhaps it was a cheap version.) I didn't note the registration, but it looked very new.

The sunshine really brings them out, doesn't it? I've seen some lovely stuff today, but the pinnacle...
I had just pulled out onto the drive of a place I go, locked the gate behind me and was dropping the roof on the Mini when I heard this engine roar, looked up, and coming down the road was a silver-grey Ferrari F430. Couldn't see the driver clearly - male but it couldn't have been James; firstly what would he have been doing in the Ribble Valley, plus it had a private plate that was something like 55 NP. So I did my "Ooooo" face (as in "Oooo, you've got a lovely motor, mister") and the driver did just what the orange Maserati driver did a few weeks ago - geared down and took off with a loud throaty roar of acceleration. I kept catching up with him for a while as it's windy roads with some stupidly slow traffic, but lost him about 5 miles later.
So is this something supercar drivers do? On getting a smile they spin the wheels and take off? Heaven knows, I'm not some young girl (though the blonde hair and dark glasses might be deceptive) but perhaps the attention gives them a kick? Theories, please.
But God, it was a lovely motor. And the sound....grrr!

As explained on the 'classic' thread, Purdey the GT6 went in today to a garage that specialises in classics. When I parked up I wandered into the workshop and things in there were looking good.
I started wandering round as the boss, John was dancing round Purdey outside and pulling her in to the workshop. He just said, "We're quite happy with what we've got in at the moment."
An Austin Healey 3000. Mint. Concourse. Listed as a member of the Austin Healey Grand Prix Club. Races as no.74. Beautiful.
Even more beautiful - AC Cobra. British Racing Green, tan leather interior, beautifully restored. In for the week to have the engine tuned to perfection. Just gorgeous.
The piece de resistance? An E-Type Jag. Not just An E-Type but number 26, the 26th made ever. One of the first 30 that were driven across Europe to be introduced to the world. It was either at Le Mans or the Geneva motor show - my mind had blow by then and I wasn't entirely listening. Midnight Blue, needed a bit of interior work and a fine tune.
And then he pulled my little Purdey next to them and said, "I think she sits quite nicely next to them, don't you?"
He glowed at the collection, I glowed at the compliment to Purdey and I'll swear she was glowing too - but then she is bright red to start with!
