I posted a comment about the flying car on the DT the week it was previewed in New York a few months back, but it didn't go up. I had heard about it on Heart Radio, but the only press coverage I could find at the time was in the Daily Mail

I am so looking forward to this new series & wine adventure when it starts. To answer DD's question I would expect he will have a book out for this like he did with 20th centuary & I bet he does more book signings. & I will put my order in for my cloned James May.

More information about the new series has been posted on the this of TopGear today. James attempts to move around with only using the power of his mind. If anyone can do it, he can. ;D Good news is that the series is now scheduled for the end of September. The bad news is that apparently it is only three episodes. I do hope they are an hour long and not just 30 minutes.

You may remember a few weeks back that Top Gear executive producer Andy Wilman talked about how May and Hammond like to do other TV shows, whereas Clarkson doesn't.
Well, here's an example of those other shows, a forthcoming series called James May's Big Ideas - and by 'forthcoming' we mean 'at the end of September'.
The basic premise covers the ideas and thoughts that trouble James in the night, when even a good stiff mug of Horlicks won't get him off to sleep.
Filmed all over the world and set to run in three parts, May starts off by looking at transport, where he tries to find better ways of getting around than the old 19th and 20th Century methods that we're stuck with now.
Happily, as you can see from the picture, this leads him to trying out a Moller Skycar.
May then gets on to every futurist's favourite fantasy in episode two; robotics. He meets a man in Japan who's made an android double of himself, and then James attempts to move around with only using the power of his mind. If anyone can do it, he can.
(Well, Stephen Hawking kind of uses the power of his mind to move around, but we don't think that counts.)
May finishes the run with an episode dedicated to energy, and tries to find alternative fuels, such as thin air and something 20kms above the Earth. But what that is, he's not saying just yet.
So keep an eye out for James May's Big Ideas, at the end of September on BBC Two.
While he tries to bring humankind's vision of the future into the 21st Century, we'll try and find out when the show's on the telly box.
We're not as clever as him.

Thanks for all the great information about this. I really can't wait until it comes out now. More than likely, I'll be working late, so I'm going to have to set the VCR. I so don't want to miss any of it.

I hope the series will be a bit more in-depth than the 20th Century one. Much as I loved it, all subjects were only touched upon lightly and I really would like to see James getting his teeth into me a subject that interest him.
