I am listening to "Words For You" a poetry collection with musical background and many famous actors and actresses for the charity I Can. I got it last year. Is anyone familiar with it? Meryl, Benedict, Rupert PJ, James Earl Jones, Dervla Kirwan, Helena BC etc. I love it!

Right now Helena BC is reading Jenny Joseph's "Warning". Didn't someone post that once upon a time?

I heard a lovely comment on the radio earlier, from a monolgue someone's performing at the Edinburgh Fringe festival. It went along the lines of
'We're all looking for someone who will give us the sun as if he's made it especially for us that morning in his toolshed.'
*sigh*

I love anything by Queen. Besides Bohemian Rhapsody, I think Fat-Bottom Girls is absolutely wonderful. And can I say that Dr. Brian May rocks my world!

I had the cutest iTunes incident on Sunday...
I was hanging out at the mall, using their free wi-fi, and a little girl came up to me. Her mother was just a little way off with another child. This girl just started asking me tons of questions, looking at my (Lego) purchases, and wanting to see my laptop. The mother was keeping an eye on her, and I assured her I didn't mind.
Anyway, she got tired of pictures (even James' Lego house!) and opened iTunes. She picked The Pogues' "If I Should Fall From Grace With God."
Nice choice, hope she keeps up the interesting musical picks.
Plus, the mom told me she was born in England! Not even five and she can pick out an Anglophile!

Tomorrow (Wed) night at 7:30 EST, there is a Hurricane Sandy relief concert being broadcast live on multiple television networks. Clapton, the Stones, Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Alicia Keyes, and a bazillion others are performing. Just a heads-up.

For the next couple of minutes, I will be acknowledging the recent death of Gerry Anderson - a huge figure in my cultural development - by standing to attention to this:

Am standing to attention right along with you. Major part of my childhood, and big in the lives of my children as well. RIP Gerry.

Two of my brothers were with me when we heard about Gerry. Our acknowledgement of the import of his programmes on our childhoods included a discussion on our favourite programmes (1st Thunderbirds, 2nd Stingray, 3rd Fireball xl5 although I voted for Captain Scarlet as I can't remember Fireball XL5 too well). That morphed into favourite Thunderbird - Thunderbird 2 won for ingenuity and 3 came second, for the beautiful design. No, we hadn't been drinking. My children joined in too - when there was a resurrection a few years back, they loved it too. Lovely stuff.

I was always partial to TB 1. Had a bit of a crush on Scott (!!!) Fireball XL5.....hadn't thought about that for years! Stingray was good but I don't remember Capt. Scarlet. I have a model Tracey Island (battery powered with realistic folding palm trees), and most of the craft, including a lovely FAB 1. Ah....good times!

Yes, Scott was the one to have a crush on. I also remember Virgil's astounding eyebrows - they were very funny, especially when he was in danger. I don't think that's what was intended, but it ensured Virgil had a special little place in my heart.

I was always fond of Gordon, I have no idea why. Possibly it was the hair.

Ah, Virgil's eyebrows! They had a life of their own. The way they would knit downwards in a sticky situation. Hilarious! Gordon was lovely...a little left out most of the time. And poor old John, languishing in space. Alan used to irritate me no end. He and that brazen hussy, Tin Tin.

What on earth had John done to get exiled up in that space station? Bet the old man cut him out of the will, too
