A couple things really got on my nerves driving around my neighborhood. First, was a couple of idiots who decided to hold a conversation in the middle of the road in their cars. It just makes me want to give a long and loud honk.
The other thing that gets me is people at four way stops. I should first explain that there is a playground right where the four way stop is. For whatever reason, people think it is perfectly reasonable to park their cars their. My understanding is that this is illegal. the other thing are people who don't bother to wait for people to complete their turn at the stop before proceeding.
Sorry, this gets me so angry, I just need to rant...

I'm pretty new here (just been lurking so far) so I hope you don't mind my having a go here. I have a real issue with drivers who don't understand the concept of merging. When you enter an interstate (sorry, I'm in the US), the purpose of the merge lane isn't to race to the end of it, passing one or more breaks in traffic where you could, oh I don't know, maybe *merge* into the traffic flow, just to get to the end of the lane and force your way in front of some kind soul who just doesn't want to wreck today, thankyouverymuch.
Ditto for people who decide that they're too important to sit in backed up traffic and just drive on the shoulder to the next exit. I laugh so hard on the rare occasion that there is a car stopped on the shoulder, thwarting their progress.
Now I should probably go introduce myself properly in another thread so everyone here doesn't think I'm just here to gripe.

Welcome, OW. I agree about the merge lanes in the US, especially if they're the ones where the road changes from a four lane road to a two lane road after the light. I always hated the morons who would get in that lane to race across and beat the person who was in the correct lane that wasn't going to end. EDIT - This goes along the same lines as what I described above, only somewhat different. (Fill in your swear) who go into the right turn lane just to cut ahead of everyone else who's going straight instead of taking a right or waiting patiently like the rest of us civilised, considerate, meer mortals who like keeping a clean police record and our cars intact.

This isn't so much of a bother as it is something that scared the hell out of me while on holiday. Two things. First, the very windy and steep roads in the highlands of Scotland. Those had me petrified, since my husband took them alot faster than I would've. When I was driving to the Fins Falls just north of Inverness, I was terrified, since the road was not only like that, but had a very steep drop off the side of it and no railing at all.
Second, one lane roads that had pull offs so traffic could go both ways. The speed limit on alot of those was still 60, but there was no way husband or I was going to drive that fast on those roads. Sometimes there were sheep in them, sometimes there were selfish boyracers going in the opposited direction that didn't want to wait for you to get to the pull off to let them by.

Your first paragraph, there are roads like that here in Ulster too, I have been on them in the past and they are very scary, you have my sympathies Mojo. They have great scenery but they are scary to be on.
