I WENT! I WENT! AND IT WAS MARRRVELOUS! ;D ;D We went to Guildford on Tuesday, because I'd mixed up the dates... can you believe it? But the staff were quite empathetic and told me to get there around 11 the next day and I put up my name on the reserve list. The next day we went back to Guildford (and it's a long way from Kensal Green....) and got there first! So we had a coffee and when we came back there was already a queue forming (I'd say 20 people or something, mostly boys) but I figured I could stare at James longer this way... So at 1 he came in made a bit of a half wave to us and my insides were on the floor. He took off his coat, which revealed a babyblue jumper, put away his carkeys and posed for press photographers. Fifteen breathless minutes passed as I stood there watching the sweetest - and as it were, most tired - man on the planet. Waterstone's Lady said, 'Would you like to have a dedication?' and for a moment I felt like answering her in Dutch. All understanding of English had gone and I nearly misspelled my own name... So...... Me: 'Hiya James' James: *looking at the post-it with my name on it* 'Is that a J in your name?' Me: 'Yes, it's Dutch. Sorry.' James: 'Oh, I knew that actually' and then he looked into my eyes. It was the first time during the book signing that he looked up with someone and he would do it three times more... Then he was about to tell me something - something anecdotey, it seemed - but I was too fast, too greedy. Me: 'Would you mind posing for a picture?' He: 'Sure, sure' as my mate walked to us with shaking hands, cos he figured it's now or never. If he cocked it up... James was saying 'aaaaaand here it comes!' and after the flash 'great stuff, great stuff'. I love him for that. Me: 'Thanks James and good luck on everything.' James: 'You're welcome.' D'awwww. What a wonderful experience. And the girls from the shop with whom I'd talked to the other day all were like what's he like, was it nice? And all I could do was grin. ;D I later realised that he must've recognised my name because of the reserve list... he must have signed that copy first.... oh well... Piccie will come soon, I'm at my parents for Christmas and they only have 80s computer with no memory card slot, so.... EDIT; I NEARLY FORGOT!Girls, get your labcoats on! Cos I've got one of his hairs! It fell in the book as he closed it! ;D

I think we had crossed wires, I went to the Basingstoke one not the Guildford one! Oh I'm so sorry about that! You have a hair and I don't, so I hope that is some consolation. 'looks up cloning'

Oh, I'm waiting, believe me! I wish I knew exactly what for, though....! Maybe some motor shows next year? The Thundersprint, if he's participating? Does anyone else feel like going to any such events?

'looks up cloning' Guuuh, silly me. I seriously believed you went to Guildford... must've been overexcited or something when I read the post of James doing the signings... But I bet you had a great time, no? ;D

Hello all, Hope you have all had a wonderful Christmas. Lucky you Suki. (btw, you need the root of the hair if you are going to do anything useful with the MayDNA *raises hand - molecular biologist in da house*)

Individual genes- maybe, whole people – not quite. Sorry ;D ;D

Or the <!!!censored!!!>Well, *scratches head* I could give it a go, you don't get anything if you don't try ;D That reminds me of my human anatomy practical classes at uni. The thought of having pet 'James May Bodyparts' might sound fun, but when you are faced with a tray of severed human hands/tongues/testicles then it's suddenly not so appealing (especially if you are hung over ) Sigh, those were the days... ;D
