I don't know who has the JMPage but what a nice group of vids. Deleted scenes from Botswana and Vietnam were especially good. Thanks!

....what are pork scratchings?

Snack items made from pig fat.
I think. They are not popular here in Ulster so I don't know all that much about them, they are mainly an English thing I think.
Unless anyone else on here can correct me.

That sounds right. I don't like them either. The flavour's revolting and they're too fatty and greasy for me. Yuck.
I'm not sure, but in the states, we had something similar. Where I grew up, they were called chitlings, usually served up straight from the fryer, and were nasty. In other parts of the country, they're sold like crisps and called pork rinds. Other people liked them, but not me.

Chiltlins is something else entirely. It's pig intestines, cleaned and cooked. I'm quite partial to them, either coated in seasoned flour and fried or just boiled and served with vinegar and pepper. Pork rind - the fatty skin of the pig - is exactly what pork scratchings are made of. They're like the crackling on a joint of pork, exept they're fried, not roasted. They're really, really bad for you as they're mostly fat and salt. Unsuprisingly, I like them, too!

The thing that gets me about pork rinds is the smell. It's not the most pleasant thing ever. They're very popular in the US south and Latin America.

Well perhaps that first scratching Oz rated only 4 (out of 10) for Porkiness wasn't pork!? Seeing the others were more porky. I've never, nor will I ever eat pork scratchings. I'm not a vego or anything, it's the idea of what they are that gets to me. In fact, I don't think I've seen them for sale much here at all. Even in imported foodstores. (correct me if I'm wrong though, people who may know better...)

Well I have seen them once or twice in the Tesco I go to, in the crisps and snacks aisle but they are only ever there in very small quantities.

Well, I'll have a lookee next time I'm out at the shops. For research purposes (!?). I should hope they'd only be there in small amounts - wouldn't want to be responsible for someone buying a catering pack of the things and then having a heart attack!

Best off not buying them at all I reckon. Yuk!

Pork Scratchings are the same thing as Cracklin here, I think. In small doses, they are pretty tasty! I have to admit, finding an eyelid would probably change my mind, though. Eww.
