That doesn't sound stupid at all, aeromanda. Hemmie was your baby, and you would have done anything for him. And you did.
We all want to keep our little ones little for as long as we can. They are so adorable and so fun. You just want it to last forever.
I'm sorry that you're still having a hard time with Hemmie's death. There are times when I'm going through a photo album and see photos of cats gone by that I still get teary. You never forget. But the hurt does subside.
Don't blame yourself. Hemmie was your little angel, and you were lucky to have one another.
*Massive Hugs*
And by the way, Pi is exceptionally cute! ;D

Thanks DMC. It means so much to me to know that there are people who understand and don't think I'm being stupid. He was my little baby and now I think of him as my little angel. You are right, I will always remember him.
*hugs back*
And thanks, Pi is a cutie, when she wants to be.

Yes, Pi is a cutie, as all cats can be when the mood takes them.
I do understand what you're feeling, aeromanda. Sometimes you just connect with a cat. I lost my youngest boy last April, out of the blue, and he was a 'special' too, always had been. I was in a state of shock for a long time, but his sister started to develop her personality a bit more (to the point of being a pain in the arse at times) and so has my old lady, despite being very ill. In the future I am sure there will be more kittens too. So grieve, yes, but there will be other cats to treasure.

Losing a pet is always very difficult and when they haven't had a chance to grow up it is even harder. I feel strange still with my old man gone, I clipped some of his hair to keep, how silly is that!Since his was an arranged death at home with the Dr. and 3 people it was almost harder than having it done at the vet. Your baby is with you always. He's playing with your others and having a great time. I will not be getting a pet in the near future. When and if the time is right it will happen like it did with you. I believe there are reasons we have the pets we do. I am a karma person. He knew you would take care of him and adore him. Just hold on to those memories. Cats are independent and understanding, not really a pack animal like a dog. Pet those babies you have now and maybe tell DaVinci about Hemmie. Sorry to ramble. Hang in there.

Well, now it's happened to me - again. My old lady Chloe was nearly 18 and with liver failure diagnosed well over a year ago. She had her booster jab on Monday, was checked over and seemed fine, but then went from happily pottering about in the garden on Thursday to a state of near collapse on Friday evening. She was clearly very weak, so I made her comfortable and took her to the vets' first thing this morning.
As soon as the vet examined her she said she'd never seen such as advanced state of anemia; all the bits that should have been pink were absolutely white. There could have been various reasons for this, all involving intrusive procedures, so after a lot of discussion and soul-searching (and an anguished phone call to a friend) I decided to let her go.
In a way I'd been expecting it for a long time, but that didn't make it any easier as it was still unexpected when it came. At least I still have my 12-year-old puss, Molly, who bullies me around - she swears for Britain - so the house isn't empty. And as I've said before, I feel the possibility of kittens on the horizon somewhere in the future.

Oh Dit, I'm so sorry to hear about Chloe. At nearly 18, she had a good long life. Regardless of the age or health issues, it's still a difficult decision to make, and I'm sure you made the right one.
*Many Hugs*

dit, I am so very sorry for your loss. Believe me, I empathize very deeply. Although it won't make you feel much better right now, at least at the age of 18 you can take some comfort from knowing that she had a long and happy life. I'm sure a kitten or another cat will come into your life at the right time. Hang in there. Viviene, that is a good idea. I will have to tell DaVinci all about Hemmie.

Just caught up with all this. So sorry to hear about Chloe, Dit, but i'm sure you made the right decision. Aeromanda, hope you feel better soon. It's terrible when events in life make dealing with depression even more difficult. *Hugs to you both.*

I just got an email that I was approaved to adopt an orange baby boy from a local rescue organization. Now I'm just waiting to hear from the foster mommy to arrange to get him. Well, that and convince my husband that we do, in fact, need another cat. ;D

Thanks nat! As of this morning I still haven't gotten any communication from the foster mom. So I sent an email to the woman who told me that my application had been approved and let her know that I haven't heard anything. Hopefully, that will speed things along a bit.

I have three of these grey little babies. They were actually brought in to the SPCA with a moma cat. But she had a very bad uterine infection. She was very distressed and, although she was nursing, she wasn't doing very well with the babies. They said that to take care of the infection they would have to spay her. After a cat is spayed she stops lactating. So the babies were going to need someone to feed them and they gave me a call. I am calling them Micky, Davy, and Peter. Here's a close up: and a few more pics
