Thank you so much for the compliments ladies! These little guys have been quite a bit of work but I have enjoyed it! I do love them and it is going to be very hard to give them up. And, yes, whatever homes they go to they will be very well examined homes. DMC, that is an adorable story about Thorin inspecting the screen of your computer and purring. I hope he approves. Thanks for asking about Momma Kitty. She is doing quite well. And, she is downstairs! ;D All of a sudden one day last week she started coming down stairs and inspecting the living room. I guess she decided that it was safe downstairs because she has been hanging out down here ever since. She still runs from people, including me at times. She doesn't run if I talk to her as I walk towards her. She still runs from my husband though. Mostly because he forgets to talk to her as he walks in her direction. She has also started following me around the house a bit. She just seems curious about what I do when I leave the room. When I took her to the vet they gave me worming medication for her. I hadn't given it to her yet because I knew I would need help and my husband, although very well intentioned, is pretty useless at things like that. Yesterday, my best friend was over. She's a groomer but she's great with all animals. So, I held Momma Kitty and my friend was able to pop the pill into Momma's mouth. It went much easier than either of us expected it would and I only got a small scratch and Momma hasn't acted any differently towards me since I held her. So, mission accomplished! I do have another story about the younger kittens and what happened today when I tried to take them to the clinic that the organization I am (supposedly)fostering them for works at. But it is a long story and I am quite tired right now so I'll tell you later. All the kittens are doing well but it was quite a fiasco!

Cats are weird... My brother took in a kitten what was being mistreated. The other two cats he owns were rescues as well. Dexter is the funny one, he gets in and out of the house with the 'cat ladder' my brother has propped up against the garage. I love hearing my brother's tales of his cats. Guinness is the 14 year old toothless wonder-she's a lounge cat and she's given me plenty of cuddle time! Dexter pesters her to no end though. The new kitten who has no name yet plagues them both! Kittens have springs for feet as he bounces everywhere.

I know that it has been a while since I have given you an update on my little guys. Not a whole lot has been going on with them. They just keep getting bigger and bigger. The older kittens (the grey babies) weighed enough for them to be neutered a few weeks ago. But they had a cold and had to go on antibiotics for two weeks so that has postponed their operations. I have to take them back to the clinic to have their cold reevaluated to make sure they are completely healthy and then I can schedule their surgery. The younger kittens had their surgery to be spayed/neutered on Friday. They all recovered quite quickly. When they got home they smelled like the clinic (which is to say they stank) and whenever they went near Momma Kitty she hissed at them and batted them away. But it has been a few days now and she is letting them nurse again. Although, I don't know why she lets them. It isn't like they don't get enough to eat already! I know it is more of a comfort and bonding thing at the this age than anything else but still, they're almost 9 weeks old now! And speaking of Momma Kitty she is doing very well. She has gotten to the point where if I pick her up and put her on my lap she'll actually stay there for a while before she runs away. She has started coming up on the couch all on her own to take a nap or to get petting and loving. She even jumps up on the couch next to my husband. Even more amazing, she lets our house mate pet her and now and then even comes to the door to greet him when he gets home from work in the morning (he works nights.) We still haven't really given her a name. Names for your animals usually just "pop out" at you or occur to you or describe the animals' personality. But nothing has come to mind more than Momma Kitty. It does suit her as she is very good to her babies and she is good to the other kittens too. A very sweet Momma she is. Maybe I'll think of something when the babies have been adopted. Assuming I am able to let them go of course. I don't really have any newer pictures of the grey boys but here are some pictures that I took today of the other babies. Polo Snooker Cricket and finally Cribbage

Aawww... what little cuties!! ;D ;D Glad to get the update on how everyone is doing. Sounds like Momma Kitty has come a long way. As far as a name goes, why not name her after the Queen Mum, Elizabeth? ;D
I hope the gray litter is feeling better soon.

Thanks DMC. The grey boys are doing just fine. they only had a bit of a cold; a little sneezing. they just needed a few days of antibiotics and they were right as rain. You know what, I kinda like the idea of naming Momma Kitty after the queen. But I have a friend named Elizabeth and a friend named Liz...maybe Lizzy...hmm...that just might work for her. Maybe I'll start calling her that and see if it sticks.

Snooker is absolutely adorable! It's so hard to have just one. My parents have 3 cats, all of whom are rescues from the same place. The first cat, Maui, is one I rarely see. We think she was heavily abused before we adopted her (she was mostly afraid of loud noises like the ironing board and the closet door opening). We've had all three for about 7 years and she is still afraid of almost everyone except my mom. She hides in my parent's room for 80% of the time and only comes downstairs to eat and leave the house to go outside. These are the other two. ChaCha is the one that has bonded to me that is the youngest. She is a bit of a bully and picks on the other cats. I think she is a combination of a ragdoll and Siamese and is the most talkative of the three. Not much is really known about her (or about the other cats either), except that she was found at an abandoned house covered in fleas. We think the mother cat had abandoned her as a kitten, because she can't take care of herself that well and can't be housebroken, even though my parents have tried to. She is a playful cat and very vocal. She follows me around like a dog and usually understands me when I talk to her. When I come home from work, she is waiting at the front door and rolls over on her back, exposing her tummy, like a dog would. She also sleeps on her back. Zoey is sweet but a tad skittish. She has a bad habit of rolling around in the dirt and ground and getting horrible mats in her fur. She is very affectionate, but also destroys the furniture. She is a true lapcat and loves getting hugged. They are all wonderful cats. I can't imagine not having one.

Thanks for the update, aeromanda, I like to know how they're doing. They're all so cute that I don't know how you'll part with them when the time comes. I know I would need to keep at least one! You must have different arrangements in the US for neutering, as in the UK they don't like to do it much before four to six months.
My Molly continues to lose weight (chronic liver failure) but that means she now looks like an ordinary sized cat, as previously she was the size of a small horse! She's taking her tablets and eating her special food and she's perfectly happy, very lively in fact (perhaps it's the weight loss) so I'm not going to get upset until such time as I need to.
On the twitter thread, if people don't normally look at it, there are references to a tweet James made about a cat that's trying to come in through his window - I think it made a lot of people a little moist in the eye department.

It did for me. I wish he would've taken a picture of the cat so we could see what it looked like; I think he misses Fusker, whether or not he fully wants to admit it. It was rather sweet. I think I had said it was Fusker's spirit saying hi. I really hope he gets another cat; he seems to have the right personality for it.

Actually, I was very apprehensive about handing the babies over to be "fixed" at such a young age. They were only about two months old for goodness sake! My private vet will not spay or neuter an animal before six months of age. However, the rescue groups reason that they can't wait until the animals are six months of age to neuter them because they want to be sure that they will be neutered before they are adopted out. That way they don't have to take the adoptive parents' word that they will get the animal fixed later. Sad to say but, the younger the animal is the more likely it is to be adopted. Even with kittens. I figure that a weight of two pounds is the least they can be and be likely to survive the anesthesia. I was still worried about it but I checked with three rescues and they all have the same policy with regard to spay and neuter so I guess it is safe even at that young of an age. I truly understand what you guys are saying about not being able to give these little guys up! I'm finding it very very difficult. They are all adorable! I've always wanted a cat with Snooker's coloration. Polo is a sweet heart. Cricket is loveable and cuddly. And Cribbage...Cribbage is just special...in a brains not all there kind of way. I love them all! It doesn't get any easier when the look me in the eye and then crawl in my lap and purr. To be quite honest it is tearing me up inside. As much as I have loved it I don't know if I will foster again after this. It is just so hard to give them up. If it was up to me I would keep all of them. My husband has said a definitive "NO" to that. What he doesn't know yet is that I have decided that we ARE adopting and keeping the three older kittens. Peter, Davy, and Micky, the ones I bottle fed. They are so very much like my Hemmie was behavior and personality wise that I know it would just kill me to let them go. I have already said to my husband that I can't give them up. So, from here I'll just kinda stretch things out and see how long it takes him to notice that they haven't been adopted (by someone else) yet. I know it would be easier for me if someone I knew were to take them. So if anyone on the board is looking to adopt a kitten...I'm willing to travel to deliver!

Must say that my parents cat is very patience...! My son likes to pet her in every possible situation and drag her tail Poor little cat. And the only thing she does is walking away when she's had enough. Here's my son, thinking it's a great idea to pet the cat while she's eating.

Elervim, what adorable cats! They remind me of my neighbor's Himalayans. ;D I couldn't imagine my house without a cat in it either. Lizzy looks very sweet, melly. MOH would adore her. He loves tuxedo (black & white) cats! ;D It's great that your son is learning about animals with a very patient cat, louize. I've seen children practically mauling their pets and the pets get scolded when they bite or scratch the aggressive children. By the way, she has wonderful markings. ;D

One of the terms over here for a cat with those markings is a mackerel cat.

Even all the way to Sweden? And that's a cute cat Melly! Sweden? If I could find a good air fare and all the laws regarding the importation of animals were easy I don't see why not. That would be as good of an excuse as any to travel. ;D So, the latest little bit of kitty news: It looks like Polo will be going to her forever home this weekend. The adopter was recommended to me by my best friend. My friend is a groomer so she knows that the adopter takes good care of her animals. The woman's references checked out. I just need to get the contract that she has to sign from the shelter's coordinator and I can take Polo to her new home. I'm happy that I have found a good home for her but I love her and I'll miss her. But, a bit of news that is a bit less bitter sweet, my mom is going to adopt Cribbage! OK, well, technically she said she would think about it. She really is a dog person and she already has one cat that she didn't really ever intend to keep anyway. (So much so that the cat's name is "Cat" )But I'm not really going to give her a choice. I told her we would come over next week so Russ could do some things around the house for her and I'm just going to take Cribbage with us; with all of his toys and food etc. Once he's there I'm pretty sure she won't have any problem keeping him. The foster coordinator thinks she has a home for at least one of the two kittens remaining from the younger litter. I'm really going to see if I can guilt one of my friends into adopting Cricket. He's such a sweetie. I'll let ya know what happens.

I just love the scientist behind this study, "There's still a lot we don't know." Yeah, but you've got to publish what you think you know as soon as possible. And I have to thank ABC news for making the weak-minded among us fearful of their own cats. This parasite is also found in under cooked meat and poorly washed fruits and vegetables. People are more likely to under cook their meat or forget to wash their vegetables than they are to forget to wash their hands after cleaning the litter box. A little common sense goes a long way.
