Just listened to the podcast. I laughed and laughed! There is a real rapport there and James is so quick-witted.

The great thing about all of Christian O'Connell's interviews with James is that they are less like standard interviews and more like conversations, and IMHO it's this quality that makes them so entertaining to listen to. It's like listening to a couple of blokes chatting in the pub over a leisurely pint or two. London Pride, of course!

Thanks for that, Dit. Great find! Wasn't James all into Battleship a while back? He even made me download an app on my i-Phone for it. I wonder if it was this programme that caused all that. ;D

Now that would be a game he could supersize for a new series of Toy Stories. Wonder if the Navy would mind?

(Sorry, double post)
I've had this message from the Executive Producer as a follow-up to the info about James' appearance on Christian O'Connell on Wednesday 3rd October.
I think we have him booked in next month too!!!! He’s coming in with Jeremy for that one.
I've asked him for details, but it may be just a case of keeping eyes and ears open for those who are interested.

3:30am my time too; looks like there'll be a few night-owls up! Looks like we'll be heading into work tired in the morning Does anyone know how to record the interview as it happens? Or do we just have to wait for the "Choice Cuts" that Christian O'Connell puts up? Somehow it always seems like half the interview goes missing if that's how we have to hear it

Well, if you did stay up, there wasn't much there! I actually wondered if I'd missed something, as in my e-mail and on twitter there was a reference that James would be saying something about Beethoven, and I don't remember hearing it. I expected one of the longer interviews like the ones he's done in the past. However, there is supposed to be a video, so there might at least be something to look at later.
I feel slightly foolish now, but the impression I got from the Exec Producer was rather different to what we actually got. Unless I missed something?
Edit: They're not playing fair here! I left the programme chunnering in the background while I caught up on my e-mails, and they've just, at 9.35am, used the 'gay for Beethoven' bit as if it was live as part of an item asking people, particularly men, which three people of the same gender as themselves they would be prepared to leave their partner for. James' three were Beethoven, I didn't catch the second, and the third was Michael Collins, the astronaut from Apollo 11. They sneaked that in!

Double post, but I can't bring myself to add this to my previous post about James. On the Absolute website I found a video of the two guys from Puppetry Of The P&nis in the studio. Demonstrating their...erm...Art. I didn't have to search, it was there on more or less open view (which, quite frankly, astonishes me!) Don't watch if you are of a prudish, sensitive or squeamish nature though, or if you're eating sausages - and don't show it to any men without briefing them very thoroughly beforehand, or they may faint! This looks like a link but it actually isn't one, so you'll have to copy and paste it in if you want to have a look. That is, if you want to risk it! www.absoluteradio.co.uk/player/9048/puppetry_of_the_p*nis.html

I did exactly the same, Dit, only I also got into work early so I wouldn't be on the road when the interview was on. I was hoping for rather more, and I did wonder if the interview was so unusual they had to edit it. By 9.35, I was no longer alone in the office, so the radio was switched off. Swizz!

The podcast is now available. www.absoluteradio.co.uk/podcasts/Christian-O-Connell-Daily-Choice-Cuts/2012-10-03/20121003154745/The interview with James starts at 57'12" and runs to 1.02'30". There is then a lot of chat from the hosts about their 'Poker' game of naming three people of the same sex as you that you'd leave your partner for. James comes in again at around 1.09'11". His second choice was Sir Isaac Newton, by the way (I've just watched the Puppetry Of The P&nis video again, purely for research as I was beginning to wonder if I'd imagined it the first time. Nope, it's real. You're left thinking a variety of thoughts, starting with "But surely that must hurt?" through to others far too rude to consider on a public thread.)

Now, this is why I so dislike the tabloids.
This is how the Daily Star reported the interview.
Headline: TOP GEAR STAR JAMES MAY: I HATE JAMES BOND - James May's bullet for 007
TOP Gear fuddyduddy James May admits he hates James Bond. He told a radio breakfast show: “It’s a bit like criticising the Duke of Edinburgh, but I find the old Bond films a bit tired these days and a bit hammy.” He said Sean Connery, 82, Roger Moore, 84, and Timothy Dalton, 68, were “useless” as Bond.
Actually, he was very polite (as usual), and although the Duke of Edinburgh quote is accurate, the words 'hate' and 'useless' were never uttered.
And 'fuddyduddy'?
