Actually, I didn't know that the Thomas Cook one was a celebrity ad, though I remember thinking that the girl looked vaguely familiar.

Big bump but worth it, I think - picked this up on a feed, very recent (about an hour ago), a tweet from London Pride:
"Rumour has it our out-takes vid of the James May commercial is VERY NEARLY finished... "
When it does arrive, will someone please try to find a way for we technically-challenged Luddites to view it in some format that doesn't involve twitbook or facer?

New entry in James's journal on the Facebook page:-
Top conversations over a pint
March 2011
I went to an airport recently. Above the parades of shops and cafes in the departure lounge was a huge sign proclaiming it to be 'The place for eating and shopping'.
This seemed pretty apparent to me, but maybe it was worth reinforcing. In which case, perhaps there ought to be a sign over the door of my local saying 'The place for drinking beer and talking complete cobblers'.
But let's not be too hasty about this. Anyone who's ever been in a tedious meeting – which is all of them, really – will have rejoiced in the utterance "Let's go and discuss this over a beer". But I'd like to turn that around. I'd like to say, "Let's go for a beer, and I'm sure a suitable topic of conversation will present itself. Eventually."
I've heard a great deal of sense, from the technical to the surreal, spoken in the pub. The pub, the great social leveller and demolisher of inhibitions, actually stimulates a sort of discussion that we don't find anywhere else. It's why pubs are so noisy.
Some forums I've joined recently have concerned themselves with Hinduism, the correct way to drill for a rawlplug, the possibilities of time travel and Lady Ga-Ga. These are all things I'd normally be too polite to mention.
Now I come to think of it, the pub is an excellent resource generally, a sort of one-stop department store of knowledge and advice. From the pub I have sourced a cleaner, some motorcycle spares, free legal aid, a plasterer, some books and films, reassurance, encouragement and the overall affirmation of life itself.
Not bad when you consider that I only slipped in for a quiet pint.

How true all manner of life exists in the pub.I used to be a barmaid and the conversations were all good to start off with then as the night wore on conversing with happy drunks was quite excellent.

You're not missing anything on FB, dit. Although I dig it cuz it keeps me in constant touch with first cousins, and aunts....the only family I have left. And then friends from work got in involved. I used to work night shift, and when I went on day shift, I missed all my friends on night shift, and it's hard to visit night shift friends......but FB changed that.
FB's really good for that kind of stuff........

Facebook has its perks, but it also tells me all about sweepstakes and drawings for things that I need to be a UK resident to enter and/or win! Like, oh I don't know... a piano!

I've won the quiz a few times but can't enter because I don't live in the UK. Annoying, but oh well. Plus just imagine the shipping charges on a piano. I have no room in here for a piano anyway, and I'd have to learn how to play it if I had one in here too.

Can't wait as it'll be awesome, and maybe a bit messy as well as I'm sure the odd drinkie may be consumed

And I'm just curious.....do you all over the pond really drink your beer warm or room temp? Do yaz ever drink it cold? My family had a friend from Scotland that would visit periodically over here. She always claimed real ale should be at cellar temperature, because that's where the barrels were kept. So would that be about 50F/10C or so? P.S. James' smile could sell anything. Bikinis to Antarctic scientists, Snowshoes in the Bahamas, Wedding dresses to priests - anything! ;D ;D
