James's latest journal entry on the London Pride Facebook page:-
What I miss most about England (when I'm not in England (obviously))
August 2011
"The whole point of going abroad on holiday," says my mate Charlie, "is to remind yourself how lucky you are to live in England."
This is a good gag, and with a bit of Elgar mixed in and the odd Spitfire flying past, it might even seem convincing. But I'm not so sure it really stacks up.
To be brutally honest, I don't feel particularly lucky compared with, say, a Spaniard when my motorcycle crashes into yet another yawning pothole on the roads of west London. I don't imagine a Frenchman turning green with envy if he could see me wrestling with our nation's self-assessment tax system. I can't imagine an Italian infused with horrible self-doubt if he could join me on any of our major trunk routes during the evening of a bank holiday Monday.
Whenever I'm on a train I actually find myself wishing fervently that I was Swiss, and on those odd occasions when I fancy parking on a roundabout I really, desperately want to be French.
So what do I miss about England when I'm not at home? It's difficult to say, really. The longest I've ever spent away, in one stretch, is five weeks in California, and in 48 years of life that's not much of an absence. I've travelled a great deal in the last 10 years but never for more than a fortnight at a time, which isn't quite long enough to find out if Charlie is right. Maybe I've just never been unfortunate enough to start missing England.
The first thing I start to crave from home, however, is a pint at the Cross Keys. That's the first thing I truly miss.
Given time, a good curry, Newsnight, comedic tabloids and the reassuringly annoying rasp of my neighbour's strimmer might join the list, but I've never stayed away long enough to find out.
I'll keep it that way, just to be on the safe side.

There's a new commercial/message from James on the Fuller's facebook page. But I can't figure out how to move it over here. Technical issues... This was the tag with the video: As World Cup fever hits, here is a message from James May – Good luck England, bring home the trophy! /The London Pride Team.

I suppose this is to tie in with the rugby world cup. James shows more enthusiasm for the pint than the rugby ball I think.

Thanks so much for that, jacqui! I laughed so much and so abruptly that I was in danger of requiring laundry for my nethergarments. He has excellent timing - and the gift of a deadpan expression.

Nope, they haven't surfaced yet. In the Making Of film, the director mentions how they shot loads of short commercials to be shown in e next few years, either in tv or online. :-)

I saw a new London Pride poster, featuring James, opposite Kingston station last night, while on the way home from my OH's place. I think it must be quite new, as I can't find it anywhere on the Internet. Not even on the Facebook and Twitter pages. Thus I'm unable to post it here for the time being - sorry! I thought I'd mention it, though, in case someone does manage to find it. Suffice to say it was a most edifying sight on a chilly Autumn evening! ;D

Ok, I've been staring at the lovely photo of James, and he's gorgeous. But has anyone noticed the words in the background? Crack me up!!! ;D ;D
"Walk fast or get out of the way" "Don't stare at or stalk celebs" "Don't rely on finding a public toilet" "Ride a rickshaw through Chinatown"
