Are we making ANY quality television shows anymore? Most of the stuff on the major networks is just garbage these days.

Is there any reason why no-one has? It would seem a logical choice for a car culture Genuine question. I have no idea. There have been scads of auto oriented programs over the years. As a young person, I used to watch Motorweek, which was like old Top Gear, and listen to an auto related radio program. They were and still are on public TV and radio. I'm guessing the powers that be don't think these types of programs are commercially viable. Although, with the advent of cable, a lot of auto/motorcycle niche type programs have cropped up. I think what makes Top Gear UK a successful program is its unique format of car/entertainment program and the personalities of the presenters. So, they've brought the format here but seem to have left out the personalities. They also aren't letting the show grow its own individual identity. Top Gear UK is perfect as it is. So just copying it is silly and pointless. Buying the format, which is obviously a winner, and letting it grow organically in situ would work better than trying to copy verbatim. Although saying all that, what the hell do I know. I'm not in the industry. I'm just an innocent viewer.

Turned it on for half an hour. Spent most of that time texting my sister about how horrible it was. No one even got a gear leaver up the bum.

I see growth. Last night was quite good. Getting a car for the Donald. I watched a race with Tanner Foust and boy is he a fantastic drifter. It is getting better. So what if they do similar or the same challenges there is always a difference. It is BBC Worldwide doing the show so similarities are bound to happen. I liked the granny segment. They also had John Huertas from Castle on, good driver.

Maybe I should give the show another shot. I watched the first episode and was so unimpressed that I haven't bothered with it since. But lots of shows grow and develop as they go on. Perhaps if I think of it next week I'll give it a go.

You guys have to see the episode that aired Tuesday. It's about stretch limos. The American take on them is hilarious and the stars they have are great for instance Cloris Leachman. The big star little car is Stephen Moyer from True Blood. My respect for these guys has increased tremendously. They need to do the competition with the boys. I especially like Tanner, one exceptionally talented very young man. It is episode 6.

Tanner Foust did 215 mph in the Noble 600 in the UK and he was barefoot.Apparently the Noble doesn't meet all the U.S. restrictions concerning safety so it can't be sold here. I believe he's going to be in the UK this weekend for a Rally.

Very nice! I may actually sit down and watch an episode! ;D ;D The endorsement from James and Richard hasn't changed my mind...From the episodes I've watched, 'TG US' isn't getting any better.

Considering I've not seen any of the episodes, I've nothing to compare it to. I'll have to watch season one and then search for season two to see if they've improved any.
