Seeing this scared me a bit. Okay, a lot. Now I think that he is tougher and braver than ever. I'm still going to worry about him, though. A lot.

Even though we know he was alright after this accident I know I'm going to sit there and cringe with fear when that bit gets televised. OUCH, poor James.

Ouch! Glad that James got out of it relatively unscathed. I fell on my head earlier this year (basically) and got concussed...it was bloody awful.

The thing to have worried me was how clean those needles were they used for the drip, but on the pic it looks pretty professional. I travelled around Syria about ten years ago and back then was strongly advised to take a clean set of needles with me for cases like this. Looks like things have inmproved. Lucky for the Syrian population (incredibly nice people btw) and for James. Meanwhile, the journali... eh... people working at the Sun newsp... eh the Sun must have been mightly glad they had another excuse to post the picture of Richard's crah car.

Oh James. With these bits of news it's always good to know that they've come back safely. * :-*on the head for James*

I have an ongoing concern about the physical damage these guys do to themselves at the best of times but this shows that Richard's accident was no one-off (though obviously on a different level). I hope James has no repercussions and I, too, will watch that bit of the programme and wince on James' behalf.

Boys with their toys. Although, I've got to admit to having a similar picture of me and a mate, playing with our iPhones. ;D
Shows the concussion wasn't very serious as I can't imagine he would have been allowed to continue his journey otherwise. :-)

Looking back, I'm glad we didn't know the truth at the time. I'm not sure how thier OH's cope when they go on these trips. I know I'd be paralysed with fear the whole time.

Agree with you on that one, Brycegold. I would be torn between wanting to know the details beforehand and wanting to know nothing.
When my late husband was learning to fly I made him promise to never tell me when he was going for a lesson till after he'd been. That way I couldn't get in a panic at the time, imagining all sorts of things going wrong.

Poor James. Even though he seems to be ok, I say we check him into the James May hospital so that we can all look after him and make sure that there are no lasting effects from the accident.

Poor James! But with the way he tried to downplay it you have to wonder was it really not that big of a deal at the time or was he trying to cover the severity. I'm just glad he's okay. I'm with Dit and Jacqui, I wouldn't want to know until after the fact. Watching the Christmas special and seeing some of the NASCAR shots made me remember the wives and girlfriends of the drivers. Some of them would watch every minute of the race and others would hide out in the motorhomes. I'd be terribly torn. I'd want to see the race, but I'm not sure I could stand watching MOH race. Some of their crashes are, for lack of a better word, spectacular [in a bad way]. Aeromanda, you are so right! To the James May Hospital with you, James! We'll take shifts keeping him warm and safe! ;D

I saw a headline saying 'James May hurt in Top Gear accident' and my heart fair leapt out of my chest cavity! Then I read on.....phew. I'd like to kiss him better - as most of us would. Except he is better now......... weeeeellllll except for the barbarous hair cut (I promise I'll shut up about that v soon)

I suspect we've been given this information now for two reasons, firstly for publicity (let's not be naive) but also so that genuine fans know beforehand what to expect. I'm glad that I'll watch the episode knowing that he is OK rather than wondering whether he is.
(Oh dear, that sounds a bit saddo, doesn't it?)
