Complaints after Top Gear Stig shooting

The BBC's 'Top Gear' is once again embroiled in controversy after the famous hosts were shown performing a drive-by shooting of The Stig.
I must admit I can normal tell what people are going to moan about, but did not see this coming.

...the BBC has admitted that it has received a 'considerable number' of complaints.

How much is "considerable"? If 4.5 million viewers watched the program, "considerable" would have to be at least a third in my view.

I didn't see anything wrong with what they showed. People seem to forget that it is not illegal to offend someone. I must offend people on almost a daily basis and the police haven't come to take me away yet. ;D

Maybe I have even less imagination than I thought, but I really can't see what part of that sequence could have given cause for complaint. Have I missed something?!
