I've actually changed my opinion of Hammond since following him on Twitter. He's a really kind, funny, genuine bloke when he's not playing his sometimes irritating TV persona.

I agree...my opinion of Hammond has certainly gone up since he's been on Twitter as well. His TV persona seems a bit unnecessary.

I have to agree with the above - he's still irritating on Top Gear and doesn't pull off the scripted funny bits, but he comes over on Twitter as a lovely, warm person in the real world and that's what really matters. Three cheers for the real 'Family Guy'.

I also agree. I find it interesting that all three of the guys seem to reinforce certain aspects of their TV personalities - Jeremy is outspoken, sweary, flirts with beautiful ladies but is thoughtful with his daughter; James is erudite, whimsical, philosophical and witty though occasionally pedantic; Richard is chatty, friendly, family-orientated and takes time to send kind messages to fans. They're not doing themselves any harm by being on Twitter.

I think Richard may be in danger of becoming a slave to Twitter, a bit like people who burn their dinner because they can't ignore the telephone. He does answer a lot of people.
James only answers a couple per session - especially if they mention the word "Honda", and Jeremy - apart from friends and family - only answers people who have annoyed him.

I disagree about the James he only answers people if they have Honda in the Tweet.I have been tweeted back for not mentioning bikes at all. Richard is very friendly and I agree he doesn't need his TV persona. Jeremy is just as you would expect him to be.

Oh boy! Do read the Times article by A A Gill which Jeremy has retweeted. It's hilarious. I don't think I can link to it here as the content would break about 100 proboards house rules.
I loathe Gill with a passion, but the article gives an insight into aspects of his character that I previously didn't know, and insights into Jeremy's character that we all definitely knew.

I admire a man who can spend a whole day in his Workshop of Awesomeness just producing a brass screw, then finish the day with a feeling of total satisfaction for a job well done.
And just for once there are no double entendres or naughtinesses intended in this post.

Jezza tweeted The Daily Mail has now started to write about my children. Give me strength. Or better still, a gun. I saw pictures of him and his daughter in the paper. Oh poo. It was nothing. They went shopping and had a smoke at a cafe. The End. EDIT: Or did I miss something? Why am I asking? Sham on me.

I wasn't - there's no public interest reason for posting pictures of a father and daughter day out, even when the father's well known - the Mail has just regularly attacked Jeremy for years, and I think he's worried that they'll turn their criticism on Em, what with various commentators going on about her smoking and him letting her, etc., etc. - but mostly because she's not a celebrity, she's a 17 year old girl who should be allowed to have a normal life without being trailed by the paps. I mean, their previous non-story was 'Jeremy Clarkson Appears Fat At Family Dinner' and the one before that was 'Shock! Middle Aged Smoker Has Cigarette.' They're determined to invade every area of his life, including his children. No wonder he's sensitive about it.
Then again, if anyone's going to be well equipped to deal with those idiots, it's her - she's clearly very much her father's daughter, and I dare say she'll be quite prepared to tell them to go forth and multiply.

Wyvern I agree with everything you said. I have also noticed she is very much her father's daughter through her tweets and quite able to give as good as she gets and she's also a minor.

Well I'm American so I don't know the joke. I believe I went through there last year when I was in England an there was an accident on the A46. Consequently I drove thru many back roads with the rest of the world. My cousin and I zig zagged all over to sight see on the way to Hull. Hopefully there isn't anyone from Missouri on the board because we sort of make fun of them. There license plate for years was "The show me state". In other words if they didn't see something they didn't believe it.
