I love that outtake.
'umm...yes morganstarr89, you must throw everything on the floor...even my jeans, and favourite blue t-shirt.'

ZOMG, Morgan! Yay for the shout out!! And I agree with Viv, possibly his agent or even he lurks on this board from time to time. The timing is just too perfect. Hehe, I love Kermie. And the outtake. Classic. ;D Maybe that's Rory's secret role, to spy on James's fan base. He is a "researcher", after all. (Give yourself up, man! ;D)

No other gif could express my excitement quite like Kermit could. I agree, Pie. I think Rory is might be an informer, too...a ferret sent out to do all the research and report his findings....If he isn't the one doing the research, I think someone on his team is. He did say he has some women working for him in the Lab. A woman might be more willing to mill through the James smut than a guy would. It also doesn't help that James intentionally says "I bet some of you want to 'coucher avec moi ce soir' after seeing that." ::ahem:: You gotta admit...he does know his audience (especially now; I figure if the show is targeted solely to men, he wouldn't be saying something like that). After all, a number of us want to be shafte---erm...serenaded by James, after all. Or just told how to make paper...over and over again in French that would require excessive bending at the waist on his part. ;D ;D . . . . . You know, I really don't know why I bother leaving the NC anymore. I really don't. I'll be on my way...

Finally able to watch the second episode last night. I enjoyed it - it was a lot of fun. MOH again criticised various parts of the programme ('He's wielding that axe like a girl!' 'He's not scared, just very unfit!') but he too enjoys it. I enjoyed the rock band part the best - probably because of my love of music and my not so secret life long wish to be the best female rock star ever.
He really is very good in it - he comes across very well with his little quips and quotes - and very genial and natural too.
I note an increase in NC activity....not surprisingly. I smiled somewhat when Mr Crumbs pronounced James 'very unfit'....obviously, I disagree.

My first thought on seeing the magnetic ceiling was "I'd never have to buy another cat toy again." MOH agreed. And giggled like a loon. Of course I did point out I knew who morganstarr89 was. ;D My favorite bit was the ghost-hunting part. Oh my goodness, that's one of my favorite segments of TV yet, I keep cracking up so much. My mom's done ghost-hunts before and I usually laughed at her, but this was so much funnier. ;D ;D ;D Plus the gratuitous French. I'm learning all kinds of useful phrases in that language lately. And James, the answer is o.....hey, who called me a taxi?

(nervously raising hand) I uh, ::ahem:: believe that was me. I'm on a first name basis with the taxi company now. I just hide in the NC while Nat and Morgan slide pizza and water under the dungeon door every few days. They poke me with a stick every week or so to make sure I haven't become comatose. I just needed the company and it gets dark in here. ;D ;D

I like this from a commentator in The Independent this morning. The article (in which the gentleman bemoans his own lack of masculinity) begins as follows:
This series of James May's Man Lab on BBC2 is making me feel inadequate and the knowledge that it's James May causing the inadequacy is shovelling on a further s**t heap of inadequacy.
One episode I saw featured him haring it over Dartmoor, pursued by other men in some Wessexian reconstruction of The Great Escape, while I sat on my sofa shaking my head and glancing at my Laura Ashley feature wall.

This just gets better every week! I think James should patent the Space Pet Cemetery; it’s a brilliant idea, I know some pet owners would pay to have a special send off for their beloved feline family members and their dearly departed hounds! I almost feel sorry for poor Goldie being doomed to a quick flush in the pan!! The home foundry was interesting and a good idea as long as you’re not too attached to your eyebrows! Not loving the boiler suits, I can see the practicality, the BBQ suit made me laugh out loud, as for the S & M suit.....!!! Mind you most of the program made me laugh out loud, but not quite as much as James playing the male model, sorry, but it did! I also sincerely hope he doesn’t get bombarded with new kegs now his inside leg measurement is out in the public domain!! Oh and James can play Nirvana for me whenever he likes! Brilliant series, many congrats to James and his team! Just one thing, tonight whilst he was practising his model walk, I think this was the first time I have seen James without a watch on (on land) !!! And with that, I shall retire to the saddo corner – goodnight!!

Just picked up a tweet from one of my favorite authors, Joanne Harris. I believe she lives in Yorkshire. Anyway, she says: I want James May's job! Guess she was watching Man Lab too. ;D ;D

That was great! The ideas are out of the box. I know he asks people to email ideas to manlab but I'm pretty sure a lot of it is his. I loved him on the cat walk! He has such a way with entertaining and informing at the same time.

The music editor had fun this week.
Talking of which, does anyone more groovy and modern than myself (and that's anyone) know the identity of the song which was playing when Tommy and Budgie No. 35 broke through the cloud cover for the first time? Info appreciated.
Signed, a Radio 4 listener.

Info appreciated. Signed, a Radio 4 listener. I was wondering the same thing. Hope someone knows. The music in that segment was very, very good. What I'm about to say isn't a shining example of my ability to critique but...how sexy was that when James played Nirvana? Loved this epi. even more than the last. Clever, creative, fun and interesting from end to end.

EDIT: Am I extra weird that I thought the photography in that segment was extra nice. It was really...um...artistic(?) the way the photo of the "loved one" floated out there at arms length as the earth, clouds, sky and view of eternity grew behind it.
