I even seem to remember James mentioning this as an idea for a new programme. We should keep an eye of this one.

As James has a business interest in Plum Pictures, it's likely that his ideas will get consideration, even if they're not a vehicle for him.
Any female electricians or plumbers among us?

Strictly speaking I'm an engineer. And I was female last time I looked...

God, why am I so useless?! Maybe I can be that useless every mangirl that they teach how easy it is to learn these skills. Of course standing near James, I'm pretty sure I'd just smile, nod a lot, and hear nothing that was being said.

For information.... on Amazon there is mention of a tv tie-in book for Man Lab which is due out in September, I think. It costs £17.00. I would post the pic, but it won't let me :-( Spoilsports!

This little synopsis has appeared on the BBC Press office site:
"James May's Man Lab
Returning for a second series, James May's Man Lab sees James embark on a mission to help modern man relearn some of the vital skills that are in danger of being lost for ever.
This series sees James and his team embark on action-packed stunts including evading expert trackers while being chased across Dartmoor; taking a penalty kick in front of an 80,000 sell-out crowd; and finding his inner rock god by reforming a long-forgotten band and playing one of the summer's biggest festivals.
Working from his new and improved Man Lab HQ, James also learns practical skills that every man should know – from repairing electronics to building an indoor garden, and from cutting down trees to finding his creative side by painting a portrait.
Packed with quick tips and useful knowledge, the second series of James May's Man Lab promises to be bigger and better than ever before."
Sounds fun

Here's the info about the band and the festival. Interestingly, I seem to remember that he spoke to a member of the band who phoned into one of the radio interviews he did at the time he announced he was looking for bands to re-form. I remember James enthusing about the name! www.classicrockmagazine.com/news/james-may-to-introduce-band-at-high-voltage/(Also, we now know where James will be on Sunday!)

Is that the guy who rang in to Christian O'Connell's show (I think)? I have a lousy memory these days and, sadly, I've had a change of computer and my podcasts didn't survive the transition. Anyway, if it's the same guy, I think that's rather sweet!

I'm pretty sure it's that guy, though my memory's also a bit vague about it. I remember that James did seem really interested, as if it was exactly the sort of thing he was hoping for.

Well, various tweets from Mat McIvor (vocals):
So this is where I'm going to be on Sunday, on the main stage!!!
...it's being filmed by the BBC for the show we're on.
Still trying to get my head round it, but I know we're gonna have fun!
So it's all excitement at the moment, but I bet they're nervous by the weekend!

My mum and I used to cut down trees. I must make sure I see that part, and see whether our way was any better ;D

"new and improved Man Lab HQ..."Hmm... why do people say that? Something can't be new AND improved. Either it's an old something that's been improved, or it's a new something, in which case it wasn't previously less good TO improve. Unless they mean a new Man Lab HQ which is an improvement on the old one. Admittedly this does not scan as well, but it is one of my pet peeves. Sorry, James

I do think the May Man should get on stage and get sweaty with the band. I'm sure he could bolt some Chopin onto a riff.

I'll keep these going 'as live' as long as I can, but I have to go out in about half an hour! "The boys from @thundertowers getting involved with "James May's Man Lab!"" Apparently he's onstage now (12.50pm) Actually introduced the band at 1.00

Thanks for posting these! Oh my, how I would looooove to see him in that setting! Band on stage is one of my absolute favourite things in the whole world. There's not many things that are as exciting as that. And add James to that equation....

I can feel that 'ol feeling bubbling up again looking at these. Blimey. Very nice indeed. I always think of James in a Classical music setting but James as a leather clad rocker? Very acceptable!
