Not bad at all, thanks. Stupidly busy; I've got the "How did I ever find time to go to work?" syndrome. Still doing a fair amount of theatre work and a bit of film and TV - I'm not allowed to say Extras, it's got to be Background or Supporting Artistes, which sounds rather grand. With the three cats and my guitarist Bloke who is in the process of appropriating my back room as a recording studio, I don't seem to get on here as much as I used to, more's the pity. But I'm looking forward to booking for Top Gear Live 2015, probably the Sheffield gig. And how are you getting on? How incredibly rude of me. Ask you a question and then don't get back here for a month!! My apologies. Glad to hear your acting career is going strong. I can relate to the loss of your back room to a recording studio - my son has done that. There goes the guest room! Incredibly, I'm going to TGL as well - in Liverpool! Long story. Busy busy here too with RDA and my dear old mum whose had a bad year but otherwise fighting fit. A very merry Christmas to you and Bloke, and all the best for a great 2015. xx

TV presenter James May looking envious of Michael's newly-presented award. ULSTER STUDENT PICKS UP FLYING EXCELLENCE AWARDPublished: 04 Dec 2014 updated: 10 Dec 2014 Michael receiving his Trophy from 'Red One', Sqn Ldr David 'Monty' Montenegro, watched by his parents Nigel and WendyA STUDENT at the University of Ulster enjoyed his first trip to London this week, when he was presented with the 2014 Royal Air Force Charitable Trust Trophy for Flying Excellence at the RAF in Concert event at the Cadogan Hall, in London, by the Bands of the RAF. He received his award from the leader of the RAF's aerobatic display team, the Red Arrows, Sqn Ldr David 'Monty' Montenegro.with the icing on the cake being the presentation of a coveted national award for his outstanding ability as a pilot. The Trophy is awarded annually by the Trust to the top-performing Air Cadet who, in the opinion of the Air Cadet Organisation (ACO), has shown both outstanding flying ability and personal qualities. Michael Jennings, 19, from Drumbo in County Down, currently a Cadet Warrant Officer with 817 (Lisburn) Sqn and 664 Volunteer Gliding Sqn (VGS) at Newtownards, Michael will be leaving Cadets when he's 20 in January, and rejoin as an adult Civilian Gliding Instructor at 664 VGS. He says: "My vision is not 20/20, so unfortunately I can't join the RAF as a pilot, but I'd like to gain my PPL and fly civilian aircraft, and also fly the Grob Vigilant at the VGS, teaching cadets how to fly." He is currently studying Electronic Engineering at the University of Ulster. Michael said: "The RAF in Concert was absolutely incredible. The band were not just playing music, they all had their own individual character and it just made everything they did both funny and entertaining. It's not often you leave an orchestral performance with a sore stomach from laughing! He added: "I met James May and Air Marshal Sir Kevin Leeson, Chairman of the Charitable Trust, and the highlight was being able to talk to the Red Arrows, asking them how they got to where they are today and how they started flying. It was amazing to be able to talk to the best aerobatic display team in the world so casually! "The night was definitely one of the highlights of my life so far. It was an honour to meet so many new and friendly people, thanks to the Charitable Trust. I cannot thank them enough!" During the evening, BBC Top Gear presenter James May took to the stage to present a £250,000 cheque to Gp Capt Jim Leggat, the Air Cadets' Regional Commandant for the Scotland and Northern Ireland region. This is the latest instalment of a £625,000 grant to the Air Cadet Organisation to fund 25 state-of-the-art flight simulators. After being introduced to Michael during the interval, James said: "It was great to meet Michael and congratulate him on his success. The Air Cadet Organisation not only offers a valuable foundation for anyone wishing to join the Royal Air Force but it also provides opportunities for young people with a passion for aviation to gain flight experience. I'm delighted the RAF Charitable Trust shares my view and supports such initiatives." I agree he looks tired of it all. I think the BBC is regretting their hasty decision to suspend Jeremy. I really hope it all blows over and they get back to normal. I love Top Gear and I would be very sad to see it end.

I love Top Gear and I would be very sad to see it end. It must be awful to have a media horde a few feet outside one's front door. I feel sorry for his neighbors as well, parking and getting up & down their street must be a major pain with all the media vans parked about.

Portrait of a man who has obviously enjoyed life - no-one gets laughter lines like that without having had fun along the way. (See above for full size - thanks RedMoon11)
