This is the trailer for the Christmas Special that was first shown on The One Show. It looks like a hell of a lot of fun! I am now in a state of eager anticipation. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cu7DC10ESWc

And apparently the boys are off to Beijing. This ties in with something they said at TGL about making a film about the Chinese motor industry.

wonder where Richard was? Presumably not involved in this block of filming, and I assume they're going straight on to Australia after that for TG Live, in which Hammond is also not participating. He seems to have given up on the foreign live shows.

IIRC, they did say that it would just be Jeremy and James going to China, now I think about it.

Richard's Hammond Heaven Twitter site has tons of pictures and one autographed by whomever is taking the pictures.

I think I've got those; I've posted what I consider to be the best/most relevant to James without being spoilers on various threads here earlier tonight.

what are they going to do in s. africa. updating my cable, i guess it's a good thing i have to work. The same thing they do every year, I imagine - Top Gear Live. They used to go to South Africa even when they didn't do a 'world tour', back in the days when they fronted the MPH Show (which is what eventually evolved into the Top Gear Live show we have now).

They don't have South Africa on the TGL schedule.

They don't have South Africa on the TGL schedule. That surprises me. I wouldn't be surprised if they added it in though - they only did Kyalami in March, so they aren't due there for a while yet, and they only announced Copenhagen recently and Moscow's not got a confirmed venue yet, so this year's tour is definitely a work in progress. Having said that, this year's tour isn't so much a tour at all really, as a selection of events. Moscow's just the stunt show (so Stig and the drivers but no presenters, as far as I can tell, the same as at the Nurburgring a while ago), while Perth's a variation on the show we had in the UK last year, and Copenhagen gets the 2009 show revamp. There's no Dublin show either, and that normally comes a couple of weeks after the UK ones. Hmm. Jeremy did say during one of the Birmingham shows that they're getting too old for all this (I think this was just after he'd had a nasty altercation with a racing harness that left him with a voice considerably higher than usual). Perhaps after the madness of the last couple of years they've realised that they can't keep up the relentless pace they've been running - and if so, I'm glad. It's great that they get out there and give the fans a chance to experience TG, but nobody could keep up that punishing a pace foreveer.

More detailed info from China www.chinacartimes.com/2011/12/06/top-gear-filming-cold-cold-beijing/Contains the crushing line "A netizen (I think this means citizen) has been following the two over the course of a few days and posting pictures on line, the netizen in question was quick to comment that James May is looking somewhat portly these days."[/b]

'Netizen' mean 'citizen of the Internet', or member of an Online community, e.g. somewho who submitted photos or comments to a discussion, or read and commented on posts. People like us - we're 'netizens' too!

Coo, I'm a netizen! I hadn't heard the term, and to be quite honest I wouldn't have worked it out from the structure of the word without a clue being given.
