I know you're in a conference hall most of the day but, how's the weather? Are they doing any costume contests? Ya goin'? The weather was amazingly sticky. They don't call it 'Hotlanta' for nothing. Even when we got some brief rain yesterday, it just made it worse, humidity wise. There were several costume contests and a masquerade contest. I didn't actually enter any of them, but watched some on the hotel DragonConTV channel. I want to go back next year. When I was standing in one of the many lines over the weekend, I actually started sketching a costume idea! We shall see! ;D

I just found out another friend of mine was there (she owns her own clothing/costume business), and apparently there were four tornadoes in the area today. I'd probably spend a lot of time whining about the weather in Atlanta. I don't do well in hot weather. I'd have to wear a skimpy costume.

It was supposed to leave a bit before 6pm. It was delayed until 8:15pm because of the tornadoes. I flew out just as the rain was starting around 2:30pm. There is no shortage of skimpy costumes at Dragon*Con!! ;D

Thanks for the pics DMC! They're sweet! Back in the day when I used to go to the occasional Star Trek convention we used to scoff at the folks who dressed up. Now that my Beloved and I have done it (and discovered it's actually quite fun) I appreciate how much work goes into it. And a lot of those costumes (I saw someone had dressed up and the Angels from Dr Who. Amazing!) must take the whole dang year to get together! Also, the photo you have tagged as Stan Lee is actually Loni Anderson's costar on 'WKRP in Cincinatti' Howard Hessman.

I know my Beloved can hardly wait. Your not wrong she's been doing jobs so she could buy the Avengers dvd's.Though I think I've been seriously conned. The other passions are Wolverene and Sherlock Holmes(Robert Downy Jnr). She already has a movie list to go and see into next year.

Ok, the Top Gear panel. This was the first year they had a panel for Top Gear. One can always hope that they would have had a guest from the show or the production team. They didn't but hopefully next year! The people on the panel were members of the British Media Track themselves. All reasonably knowledgeable of TG. What they should have done, in my opinion, was to give a brief synopsis of the show, information on how the show got its start and how it has evolved over the years. Then they should have given a history of each of the presenters. Taking questions from the audience as well as any additional information we might have had. Instead, they took for granted that we all knew the basic information. They did ask the audience a few questions, but it inevitably degenerated into people saying what their favorite challenge was or which special was the best. Quoting lines from the shows and ad-libbing "Some say... " phrases. The panelists simply weren't prepared for this panel as well as the others I saw. I have to give them credit for having it on the schedule at all. They seem to think they'll be doing it again next year. I'll send out an email to give them some feedback on what I saw. A little constructive criticism may help. They did get a few things wrong. One of the panelists thought they should play the theme song, 'Melissa' to open the panel discussion. Another one said it was about time they had a Top Gear panel because the new format had been around for 17 years now. And so on. My friends, who have watched TG and went to the panel with me, thought that I should have been on the panel. To tell you the truth, anyone of us on the JMB would have known just as much, but most likely more than they did. With that said, there was one guy on the panel who seemed to be taking it a little more serious than the others and had intelligent things to say. Had he been running the panel, I think it would have been much better. A waste of time? No not really. At 10am on Monday, the day when everyone is going home, we filled that room. There are lots of TG fans out there. Hopefully they will email the Brit Track as well, and give their opinions. Who knows, perhaps we could get someone from the show to come for a panel discussion next year. ;D ;D

More excellent parade pics! ;D Thanks for sharing! It's a shame the TG panel wasn't better. They may not have realized how much we Americans actually know about the show. I bet you anything they'll get lots of feedback and it'll either be better or nonexistent next year.

I hope they continue with the panel. They just a bit more preparation and a good guest. Perhaps then it wouldn't degenerate into "Some say..." or "How hard can it be??" and so on! Who Ya' Gonna' Call?? Ecto Mini!

I love the way that Dr Who fans manage to look so much like the characters, and although I didn't recognise all the characters in the pics from other programmes/films, I assume the same is true of all of them. It all looks brilliant!
