I hate the Honda Fit's name-it should be the HOnda Jazz like it is in Europe. It is a jazzy sort of car. Smart for 2 or "smart car" anything are glorified go carts and they stink in crash rating tests. I test drove a Subaru Legacy and the ride was great, so nice and quiet, handled very well. My friend says it has no soul, a la Jeremy I guess. I love the Mazda 3-blue headlights mean it has Skyactiv technology which is just a turbocharger in my opinion. More here if you like: thecarguys.tumblr.com. My friend and I go out and test drive cars. A Mercedes had rubber brakes and didn't brake well at all. Jaguar XJ-don't bother. You can't see out the back and its really cumbersome. I plan to freak out the dealership and ask to test drive one... hehehehe... Too many Kia Souls and I hate Kia BTW..... Nissan Juke-I can't decide whether I love or loathe 'em... PS-the RX7 started right up! It needs an inspection and we get to go play with it!

Mercedes is shutting down its ultra-luxurious Maybach line. Looks like Simon Cowell will have to look elsewhere for a car no one else but he can afford! I love the fact that this thread is called "Thoughts on cars you might never own" Never say never, and all that, but I think the chances are pretty slim.

Amie8, I never expect to own anything like a Ferrari, a Lambo, or anything of that ilk, simply because they don't fit into my lifestyle, nor could I ever afford one! That being said, I could very well afford a Mercedes or a BMW, but I choose not to do so. Nevertheless, I just might decide to have one of these higher-end cars before I turn up my toes because it would be lots of fun!

There are some cars in this thread that any of us might have owned, for example, a RAV-4 (2) and Miata.

My comment only applied to the Maybach, by the way. It seems to have been taken a bit seriously.

There was a secondhand dealership near here that had a Maybach last year. I contemplated asking for a test drive...

Wouldn't that be sacrilegious? It's beautiful as it is. I hate the way he does that! Someone buy it, quick!!

Rare car: VW (I think it was a Jetta) W8. Look up the engines and you'll find a Veyron which has a W12 in it.

Both Porsches are simply gorgeous. I would be more than happy with either one! Thanks for sharing!

Having driven the Aston it really feels a let down to get into my everyday car. The Aston was superb - comfort, styling, luxury, performance, power, everything you could want in a car - but I'd never be able to afford one.

I've just seen an ad on Dave for a firm called Seasoncars.com that hires out prestige cars, so out of idle curiosity I decided to take a look. Indeed, thsy have a Ferrari 458 Italia on their books, so how much does it cost to have the same driving experience that James has every time he pops into his garage and thinks, "Hmm, I'll take the yellow one today"?
Bearing in mind that "All prices include VAT, insurance and a 100 miles a day mileage allowance"?
1-2 days - £1140, 3-6 days - £1080, 7-14 days - £960, 15-28 days - £840
Price stated is per day.
I shouldn't have been surprised; a Lamborghini Aventador starts at £3000 per day. Ah well, back to dreaming (though it's well worth a look if you can control your drooling).

Now you've given me ideas (doesn't take much when it comes to cars). I checked to see if there is a similar company here, and found one called statusride.com. Weekday rates (add $200 for a weekend day), are only about half of UK rates. Ferrari F430 $999 Gallardo Spyder $999 Corvette $350

Well, the Corvette's a bargain Actually, I'd be tempted by the Corvette because I've always liked them. However, if anyone was seriously contemplating those options I can say from experience that the Gallardo is absolutely lovely to drive, though in my case it was the coupe rather than the spyder I have to admit though, having driven it, I've gone off the Aston Martin DB9 a bit. I'd like to try a Vantage because it's that bit smaller and lighter. The nose on the DB9 was just too long for a handling course as tight as the one I was on, which meant I couldn't get the power down in the way I wanted to. It also felt a bit old fashioned, somehow - though I suppose by now it is an old car. It would probably have been lovely on the road, but I think I'd prefer something a bit less heavy and a bit more fun. It just took itself far too seriously for me.

And now I want to be a passenger in a Vantage with Wyvern driving... FUN!! I saw a black Porsche Panamera yesterday, and it got me to thinking. I've seen 5 Porsches in person: 911, Boxter, Cayman, Cayenne, and now the Panamera. I thought the Cayenne was truly hideous, but the Panamera... it's odd. Strangely proportioned, I'd never call it beautiful, but it just drew my eye. And my curiosity, I wonder who in this town owns it...

Toy, for a real giggle, try a Lotus Elise. If the recession ever ends, I could be sorely tempted to save up for one of those. That was without question the most entertaining thing I've ever driven ;D Even the instructor apologised for making me give it back!
I have mixed feelings on the Panamera, I have to admit. The first time I saw one, I thought it was an absolute minger. I still don't think it's beautiful, but I do think it's interesting. And I am aware that it is extremely good to drive, so that makes me want to give it a go. And because I live where I do, I have a couple of fairly near neighbours who have them - alas I don't know them personally, so I can't have a go.
Mind you, I'd rather be friends with the lady I see from time to time driving an Aston Martin Rapide because that is beautiful. Not to mention the chap who often drives past my road in a gorgeous new silver Mercedes SLS...

OK, folks, I am in a sort of a quandary, and I require your opinions and/or expertise.
I received in my e-mail inbox today an offer through "Living Social" an offer for driving at Summit Point Raceway near Charles Town, WV. That being said, here is the problem (or lack of such).
I have a choice of three cars which I can drive (after much instruction, of course):
*Ferrari F430 *Lamborghini Gallardo *Aston Martin Vanquish
I think I am going to choose the option of 5 laps around the track. By the end, I should have either wet myself copiously or else experienced multiple orgasms.
Help, anyone?

How far from the casino is it? I am for the Aston Martin Vanquish.

Summit Point is a great track. Lucky you. What organization is doing this? Go with the F430.

either wet myself copiously or else experienced multiple orgasms. quote] I don't think you should drive any of those cars - you will obvioulsy wreck the upholstery! ;D However - if you are able to control yourself for a little while - F430 - every time!

I drove an Aston Martin DB9 on a track day and really enjoyed it, but come on - could you really resist the F430? If you chose one of the others, on the day you'd be standing by the side of the track, hear the sound of that Ferrari engine and kick yourself!

Well, it appears that I shall have to wear rubber pants and drive the Ferrari! I winder who my "Stig" will be? Mind you, it won't be until next spring but I shall take plenty of photos!

I'm back! Got a gym membership so I've been busy....
New redesigned Ford Fusion/Mondeo-wowzer! It was comfy, well upholstered, the center stack was plied with simple controls I could use. It had a sport mode which had a large and well lit gauge that showed which gear you were in. Mom's Audi has that but I never noticed because the info center screen was smaller and not well lit. Still, the MyFordTouch needs a LOT of work! The Caddy XTS was confusing to navigate, but the ATS was really nice and comfy. My friend's a Caddy freak and we always go and check them out.
