I think I like him taking them off better than putting them on. Can't think of why... Sorry to double post.... DMC is it because taking them off implies undressing in some way? Oh yeah!! So glad you're back, Afar! ;D

Bigger version of this first one for a new page, plus another from the same sequence. This is going to be really embarrassing, I suspect. I went for my annual eyetest this week and decided I wanted some new frames. I saw some there a few weeks ago when I had to have my present ones mended and I still liked them so I've ordered them and they should be ready mid-week. I like the fact that they are acrylic frames, my colours (transparent with pink and blue flashes) and surprisingly cool, for me. Then I came home and looked at this pic. Oh dear. Smaller and more subtle, but not dissimilar. Let's just hope they suit me when I get them home.

Further up this page I mentioned that I'd ordered some new specs, but when I got home I realised I might inadvertently have been influenced by James' taste in shades (and I really do like those of his). Well I picked them up today, and I was relieved that any comparisons are quite tenuous!

Nice, dit! Your specs look similar to James' but different enough to complement your face.

I've had all sorts of specs in my life from the 'Deidre Langton' ones in the 80s (UK members will remember them), all pink and flowery or white and startling, through the trendy frameless to the narrow gold-rimmed with the deep sides. When I saw these new frames I just really fancied them and they bridge (no pun intended) the gap between being very pale and having my *cough* 'colour palette'. I've got really used to them now and I love them. I used to teach the guy who makes and fits them at my optometrist's many moons ago, and he says he remembers me wearing similarly unusual frames then.
What actually amused me was that the last time I had plastic frames they were the cheapest in the place. Now, they're called 'acrylic retro' and the price range seems to have changed!

Definitely the second ones as far as the specs are involved - I actually still have a couple of pairs kept for 'sentimental' reasons that are very similar to those (though a bit pinker!)
I actually find the first one a bit spooky. When the actress looked like that, although my specs weren't as dark and heavy as those in that picture, I was frequently stopped in the street and asked if I was Anne Kirkbride, the actress who played Deidre. I suspect it was a specs/hair thing.

All this talk of specs is making me think I should really be updating my frames. I was on vacation about two years ago, and apropos of nothing a guy told me quite seriously he liked my "Harry Potter" glasses Yikes! I'm trying to remember when I got these frames and I think it was about ten years ago. At the rate I'm going the wheel of fashion will come full circle and my glasses will be (sort of) cool again...

I just shopped for new sunglasses and discovered those big round glasses from the 80's are coming back in style. I rather like them. They're more flattering on me than the smaller, more rectangular ones of the past decade or so.

I must say, I do like chaps in glasses but not sunglasses very much.
I think it's the fact that glasses make men look thoughtful and educated.
That turns me on

That episode was so much fun. Brian Johnson should be on TG more often - he's a real character. And James was so in his most dorkily charming element driving that ridiculous old Bentley. It brought out the Toy Stories side of him where he gets all bouncey and geeked out and just SQUEEE.

I made a thing! A few caps from S09E06, from the build-a-stretch-limo challenge. Okay, it's not speccies as such, but I found May-In-Goggles terribly appealing, so.
