Plans to record Jeremy Clarkson’s motoring show The Grand Tour in the Cotswolds have led to an outcry from neighbours.
The former Top Gear presenter’s company wants to erect a marquee near Chipping Norton where an invited audience of 350 would watch the show being recorded. Neighbours claim that the extra traffic will cause a nuisance in narrow country lanes already blighted by cars heading to Soho Farmhouse, a country branch of the members-only restaurant and hotel chain Soho House.
One objector said: “The number of Range Rovers, Porsches and various other speeding vehicles blindly following their sat navs has had a massively negative impact. The idea of a further increase in fast cars driven by petrolheads . . . is highly concerning.”
The field where the Amazon Prime show would be filmed is by a £6 million barn conversion being undertaken by David and Victoria Beckham on land bought from the Great Tew estate.

FILMING for a show, thought to be that starring the famous Top Gear trio, has been waved through.
West Oxfordshire District Council has given approval for 13 weeks of filming at the Great Tew Estate, near Chipping Norton.
Plans were passed on Wednesday for a temporary studio for an Amazon Prime television show.
Email chains uploaded to the application reveal the show is affiliated to Chump Productions, the production company owned by Jeremy Clarkson, James May, Richard Hammond and producer Andy Wilman.
It is thought filming is for motoring show The Grand Tour, which had a successful first series last year.
The application states the shoot will involve 80 staff members and 350 ticketed guests, with the latter expected to generate 150-200 cars on a filming day.
Oxfordshire County Council had objected, noting there was no traffic plan.
The district council approved the plans on the condition that no filming can take place until such a plan has been agreed.
Some residents had reportedly also raised concerns about traffic, though no such objections show on the application.
Council officers wrote in a report: “This proposed use will provide a positive injection into the local economy both through the need for accommodation, local hospitality and amenities for crew and audience alike.”
According to emails sent from the production company to the council, filming is due to take place during two five-week periods between October and December.
The application also includes provision for 200 parking spaces, a marquee and a catering bus.
Correspondence from the agent also noted 'areas allocated for parking during the Cornbury festival will be utilised for this proposed operation'.
The village of Great Tew is no stranger to stars, as it is home to the Beckhams' £6.15m barn conversion as well as favourite celebrity haunt Soho Farmhouse.
