The TG3 had already worked together prior to new Top Gear, In 1984 they played 3 of the Von Trapp children in the touring version of the Sound of Music, James recieved rave reviews for his version of I Am 16

Before getting the job on Top Gear James actually worked at McDonald's and was responsible for inventing the short lived McPie ;D

James' university dissertation was entitled " A discourse and the harmonic beauty that is the back catalogue of Steps - with particular focus on the parts of Ian 'H' Watkins"
this was considered groundbreaking on two counts. 1. Prior to this the contribution of H had been much underrated and 2. Steps hadn't been invented yet

His hatred of mud and all things countryside is so severe that whenever he comes to visit Jeremy in the Cotswolds he wears a wetsuit and a helmet at all times to prevent mud-skin contact.
