The combination of his Sun & Moon signs produces a personality that is drawn in 2 opposite directions. The nature of Capricorn is highly disciplined & cautious, while Libra is rash & impulsive. What tends to result is a rather positive persona, with a sort of inspirational faith in his own infallibility, a bit the eccentric at times, but generally a very amiable individual. He likes people, but the main driving force in his nature may be more material than humanitarian. He is not very romantic, & there is a detachment about him that belies his real need for people. He is extremely social, & likes to have people around him, but at the same time, he does not warm to them very quickly; he is somewhat proud, a bit suspicious, & as a result, he remains aloof. He has a talent for mixing socially, however, & for getting along well with his superiors using a tact & diplomacy that assures progress in business interests. He capitalizes in business, or in a profession, on persuasiveness & a friendly attitude of diplomacy. He very much dislikes direct conflict or hostile situations, & his instinct to do the right thing to preserve peace & order is generally appreciated by all. His talents also feature the ability to exercise sound & impartial judgement, especially in business environment, the ability to mentally balance things, criticize & compare. There is a certain mental foresight that lets him see the flaws in plans before they become reality & cause problems. This well-balanced mentality is well backed by serious purpose & thoughtfulness, a desire to get ahead & assume responsibility. Maintaining balance & equilibrium can prove to be the key to his success & happiness. His interests in business are enhanced by his ability to win others to his point of view by persuasiveness & utter charm.
In Aquarius, Mercury produces a mind that is original, detached, & abstract. Ideas come to him in bursts of insights. His mind is hyper-active & going constantly. Thoughts are rarely organized, rather arriving in flashes & fragments which are often the seeds of invention & progress. The thought pattern is scientific & dispassionate. His idea may sometimes be considered very progressive & some may be well ahead of their time. His unique approach will prompt some to label him as being a little crazy or at least eccentric. He likes to do things that are unusual or avant garde just to shake up the establishment & create controversy. He has no respect for tradition & little concern for the lessons of the past. He is a pure progressive. He loves to rebel against the system in supporting causes & ideas that are controversial & revolutionary. He is intuitive & an excellent judge of character. Being fair-minded, he judges people by what they seem to know or what they do, rather than who they are or what position they occupy. He believes in equality & fair play. He supports ideas & programmes that assist those less fortunate than himself, & he supports the concepts of total social reform. He is witty & open to a wide range of ideas, but at times, he becomes mentally fixed in his opinions & very stubborn. He is talkative & social, but he often comes off as rather aloof & cerebral. It may be hard for him to find common ground in social circles. Nonetheless, he is very verbal & enjoys expressing his views to anyone who will listen. Writing & speaking both come easily for him.
Venus in Sagittarius produces affections that are demonstrative & friendly. He has a rather carefree attitude toward relationships, & he is not always dependable where affections are concerned. He is humorous, sociable & even a flirt. Outgoing & personable, he is very friendly & sometimes not too serious. There is a strong love of personal freedom in his nature that make it a little hard for him to settle down to a restrictive sort of relationship. He feels more comfortable in a relationship when things go slowly, & his partner doesn't get too serious too fast. In fact, he would probably like it better if the relationship stayed casual, & pressures of serious love never emerged. He is honest & idealistic in his dealings with others. Strong in his beliefs, he must find a partner sharing his views, or he will surely try to convert his chosen to his way of thinking. He doesn't hold back on his feelings, & it is never hard to figure out his stand on emotional issues. The key to his romantic nature is friendship. He is upbeat & easy to like. As a friend & lover, he is the ideal partner for that lucky open-minded mate who can accept him on his own terms & respect his need for space.
Mars in Leo displays exceptional willpower & creativity. With this placement, he projects an air of confidence, self-sufficiency, & vitality that causes people to sit up & take notice. He is confident in most roles before an audience. He has a definite charismatic & gregarious flair. He takes pride in his sexual prowess. Affectionate & physically demonstrative, he enjoys the drama & excitement of a passionate affair. As much as it bolsters his ego to have several sexual partners, he is constant in love while his partner pays plenty of attention to him & is devoted. In romance, jealousy & possessiveness are often by-products of this placement. The strong, fixed opinions & the overbearing manner of this placement may often stir opposition. The pride & need to dominate others often sets up a degree of stubborn egotism. The emotional side of Mars in Leo can cause him to periodically over-react with anger when affairs don't go his way
In Aries, Jupiter indicates leadership ability in matters related to higher knowledge. When it comes to philosophy, education, & other spiritual matters, he is an innovative student & practitioner. He is very creative in these matters, determined to make changes & improvements. He is energetic & enterprising, possessing much self-esteem. He is independent, & because of his desire to be on his own, he should do well in his own business. He has the ability to attract many of the good things in life at an early age. There is a tendency, however, to be a little too overconfident & careless where money & business is concerned. The impulsive nature overrides practical common sense.
Saturn in Aquarius gives strong powers of concentration. His thinking is both democratic & scientific. His basically conservative attitudes notwithstanding, inventive & original approaches come easily to him, as well as abstract mathematics & symbolism. He is a good friend, responsible, impartial & always loyal. Cool & collected, he is level-headed & stable. Yet he may find it hard to make friends & he probably gets little support from those above him. Pride may make him a social loner.

No more than 4 minutes on the interwebs to come up with this (on a real site):
If You Were Born January 16: You are playful yet ambitious. While security is extremely important to you, so is personal freedom and you have a very determined, self-centered streak. You are smart, a little defiant at times, and very convincing and persuasive. There is certainly a bit of an entertainer in you, even those of you who are on the shy side. While you are a real thinker and dreamer, you are also a doer. You are spiritual and always aware that life is about something much more than the mundane.

hmmm I dated a man for several years with the same birthday (however not the same year) and I'd like to think that James was quite similar in all the good ways... playful, fun, easy going, driven, mathematically minded... just not in the bad ways haha

Has anyone ever done James' chart [used to to this semi-professionally many many moons ago - without a computer]. I did one yesterday, just not knowing what time he was born [but it really doesn't matter too much - the bulk of the planets are clear in a 24 hr period to get a good picture]. And I made an astonishing discovery. James is a very unique dude with little bits of dicotomy [sp?] woven in. His chart described [what I know of ] him to the letter. I laughed a lot.
Happily and sadly all at the same time, I posed his chart with mine.
[by the way aeromanda - we were RIGHT about the spell! There's 'charm' running wild and rampant all over the place]

Has anyone ever done James' chart [used to to this semi-professionally many many moons ago - without a computer]. I did one yesterday Any chance of you posting James' chart, SSF? Or your interpretation, if by 'chart' you mean the whole complex diagram? Yeah, here is the explanation from the chart. The chart is pretty to look at, but it's incomplete without his correct time of birth. Oh and I kinda inserted a little commentary in the chart explanation....lol....couldn't help myself.Name: James D. May January 16 1963 12:00 PM Time Zone is UT for 24 hours Bristol, UK Rising Sign is in 17 Degrees Taurus Calm and deliberate, you hate to move quickly or act hastily. [LOL! Captain Slow] Very practical, every effort must count or you can't be bothered. Patient, persistent and steady, but very stubborn -- you can't be pushed or pressured into anything. You seem outwardly self-assured because you tend to repress your inner tension and turmoil. You exude an earthy warmth, friendliness and charm. You demand comfortable surroundings and appreciate the good life. Be careful of a tendency to be overly self-indulgent. At times, you are lazy and difficult to motivate. [giggling madly] Overcoming inertia is a problem for you and, because you are not by nature a self-starter, it is often necessary for you to receive stimuli from others in order to get moving. [where his overall personality comes from] Sun is in 25 Degrees Capricorn. Extremely serious and mature, you are capable of accepting responsibilities and do so willingly. Others expect you to be dutiful as a matter of course. You tend to get angry when people get rewards after not having worked anywhere near as hard as you. You are goal-oriented and an achiever by nature -- you're a hard worker and are justifiably proud of the tangible results of your efforts. [Yep!] You tend to have "tunnel-vision" -- this allows you to block out extraneous matters that might distract others and to concentrate totally on the matter at hand. [lol] As such, you are the ideal one to manage or administrate any ongoing project and to be practical and efficient at it. You are not a fast worker, [lol!] but you are quite thorough. [lmfao!] You are known for being totally persistent, tenacious and tireless in reaching your goals. Moon is in 10 Degrees Libra. Affectionate, warm and friendly, life must be a "beautiful" experience for you. [Auh yes!] Unpleasantness should be avoided at all costs. [auh ha] You tend to overlook other people's faults and you would rather give in than fight. [except with Jezza] You are uncomfortable with strangers, [snicker] but at ease and sociable with friends and associates. Indeed, you would rather socialize than work [giggle]-- you can use your prodigious charm to avoid unpleasant tasks. You need the support and assistance of another in order to get you started on any new project -- you are not a self-starter. [heehee] Be careful of a tendency to be overly self-indulgent (i.e., lazy). [rotf!] Your refined aesthetic sensibilities attract you to music, dance, art and any other cultured activity. [BINGO!] Mercury is in 04 Degrees Aquarius. You tend to be very opinionated -- you have strongly felt notions about things and are quite vocal about expressing and defending them. [giggling madly again] Yet you are also an original thinker -- you enjoy shocking others with your offbeat, original thoughts. [yep] You appreciate and need mental and intellectual stimulation. [obvious] Your judgment is usually fair and impartial -- you can be a good critic because you can remain objective and unemotional about most things. [sounds proper] Venus is in 08 Degrees Sagittarius. You are very aware of the need to maintain a high sense of morality in a relationship. Your loyalty and interest will remain constant in any relationship (either friendly, personal or business) that is based on fairness, honesty and justice. But you will become greatly hurt and disappointed if the other person takes any but the high road with you. Also, you cannot tolerate anyone being overly emotionally possessive of you. You are known for your friendly, outspoken manner. [partially what makes him a flirt....the degree is very low or weak.....thus the "morality" factor - the aspects of a true gentleman....could actually be 0 degrees if I had his real birth time, which would make him the perfect gentleman] Mars is in 21 Degrees Leo. You are a very proud person. Strong, bold, courageous and self-possessed, you love to be the one to initiate significant actions. When people expect a lot of you, you respond positively and will work hard in order to maintain their respect. But when your dignity or pride is threatened, you tend to become sarcastic,[like this part] arrogant and domineering. Try not to take any challenge or resistance that you meet as a personal affront. You are very stubborn about your right to live your life according to your own principles. [where ALL his charisma comes from.....dangerous levels of it acting with the rest of his planets and this aspect spiders out to everyone he meets and affects in powerful ways.....which contradicts his gentleman side....maybe even to his own discomfort.....and I say that purely as a chart reader.....not a James May fan.....this is an overwhelming aspect for a person to deal with, and I call it the artificial Gemini effect, split personality......but James manages it because his chart is well balanced for him.....just not everyone else.....if I had his time of birth....i predict the degree will increase] [I'm sorry I really have to explain Mars in Leo a little more, cuz this is what really makes James - James. People with this aspect are quite influential and very determined and driven - and create the most lasting impression anyone can ever make. This aspect plays a tune on every planet and node in his chart, it's one of the most powerful combinations a person can get next to having Scopio in Mars - which none of us could handle ladies....none of us...I'm talkin straight up coronary with just a look! I won't even get into the lean.] Jupiter is in 11 Degrees Pisces. You are at your best when you give of yourself and what you have -- try to avoid being a martyr about it, though. You're a true idealist, [yes he is] but you must learn not to be upset when life does not cooperate with the way you think things should be. Very concerned with spiritual truth and growth, when you practice what you preach, you make an excellent role model for others. [absolutely, I’d add inspirational as well] You are so devoted to altruistic ventures and concerns that you tire easily at times. It then becomes necessary for you to go off by yourself to recharge your batteries. [where is sensitivity comes from, and good luck] Saturn is in 11 Degrees Aquarius. Your personal sense of values is a reflection of the value structures of your peer group and of those you respect and admire. Try to be more critical in your acceptance of these values -- you tend to prejudge the abilities of those you trust and then follow what they say blindly. Basically very conservative, you prefer orderly, systematic changes and fear doing things rashly or impulsively. [everyone should be so lucky to have this quality] Ideas and philosophies must have some sort of immediately realizable, utilitarian function in order for you to pay any attention to them. Uranus is in 04 Degrees Virgo. You, and all your peers, will be known for the degree of intensity with which you dislike normal everyday routines and chores. You will go out of your way to invent innovative, unique and timesaving ways to perform the various mundane routines and duties of living. [MANLAB!]You will be attracted to all manner of practical and useful gadgets -- anything that will make your daily life more exciting. [yeah!] [where his creativity works with Mars] Neptune is in 15 Degrees Scorpio. You, and your entire generation, are extremely interested in anything deep and mysterious. [glad to be a part of this] You will explore and idealize the benefits that can accrue from the study of the occult, healing and psychology. You are willing to experiment with substances like drugs in order to push your understanding of your inner being to the extreme. [lmfao!] Pluto is in 11 Degrees Virgo. For your entire generation, this will be a time when profound changes in society's attitude toward work, duty and responsibility will be initiated. Radical changes in attitudes toward personal health and general nutrition will be promulgated and gain wide acceptance and practice. N. Node is in 29 Degrees Cancer. You genuinely enjoy meeting other people, but you're at your best if you can do so from the comfort of your own home. You prefer others to come to you and tend to feel uncomfortable about leaving your home or neighborhood for any extended period of time. [lol this reminds me how he whined about going home in the beginning of Road Trip in France] Those who do come in contact with you are struck by your caring and obliging nature -- you really make them feel at home. [Amen] You form the closest ties, however, with members of your immediate family, especially your parents and children. [reminds me of his holiday message] You're at your best attending or organizing family reunions!
Note to readers: Read up again, just in case, I did some editting after looking at my other chart software, to clarify my theories.

Oh, that's very, very interesting. It's easy to scoff at this kind of thing but so often the details really click. I had one done many years ago and at the time it was almost frighteningly accurate, though I've long since lost the paperwork.
Obviously we don't actually know James, but he shows so much of himself through his work that we are lucky enough to feel that we know more about him than most 'celebrities'. Therefore many facets of your explanation seems to fit what we know of him. Thanks very much, SSF!

That was really interesting. And some of it I can identify with myself even though I am a year younger. I do think we have problems with authority - we don't like it being enforced upon us, although we recognise it is there, we don't need it forced down our throat.

I have always found this stuff interesting, at the risk of opening a can of worms could you do me??? feel free to say no ;D Nowadays, anybody can do it. Go here: alabe.com/freechart/Put in your info and it will generate a chart for you with the explanation. I used to write those manually, but like with traditional photography, there's no need anymore. Aspect, descriptions and explanations are all generated from a universal database in the software that generate the chart - as well as all the positions and degrees of each pertinent celestrial object. It's fun. I was skeptical of astrology years ago, but I've lived long enough to have seen an indicative pattern. So now I believe in it - as a guideline only. [excuse me......while I go off on a tangent]Whenever you read your chart or someone elses, like in a relationship chart - you have to acknowledge that everyone is different and unique - and are influenced by other things in addition to the stars - like everything and everyone that came before them. Charts try to acknowledge this blindspot with past lives and reincarnation, which I'm not exactly sure about. I don't know what I believe about death sometimes. But death affects those who survive profoundly, without any energy being emitted [that we can measure] from the deceased. But how we deal with death in our lifetimes is usually pinned to Neptune, and I always ask why? Why Neptune? Like with James, and anyone born in the 60's for the most part, are led to death's fraternity hazing directly by the one preceding it - from past experience. And in our generations' case, the understanding isn't happening, and the subject of death is being sedated. I hope I live long enough to see what the next aspect will be for those we hand off to. But I don't think I'll see it in my lifetime. That would require me to dive back into my astrology books. I put them away a long time ago because the subject matter is as intense as chemistry, which is what I divorced astrology to study. I needed a logical explanation for astrology and I was hoping to find it in physics, but I found it in chemistry. The rest Cern's doing. I just have to sit back and wait. [little story.....almost done]Back then I also read tarot cards. I studied them after my mom died. I have to confess, I was praying to contact her. She didn't come to me in the cards, but I did learn them well. And I learned them so well, that I put them away out of resepct. I used to do blind readings, with people I didn't know, never met. I had a lot of freaky experiences, the most profound one being making a lady break down and cry after telling her that her son didn't want to go to medical school, he wanted to make up his own mind, and it wasn't made up yet. And she had to let him make up his own mind because his cards showed him to be very smart and decisive and was going to have the better idea. She asked me [and I'll never forget the look on her face], "How the hell did you know that!??!?!?!?!" I NEVER charged money to read cards. It was more of an entertainment thing. After one more insane reading with a girl who went on to ask about this guy she was seeing, I packed it in. She kept shuffling and cutting and I kept pulling a 3 set card sequence in a celtic cross that shifted every 3 times she asked the same exact question in her mind. We did this for over an hour, and the only reason I kept going was she kept giving me beer. That's how I saw the card pattern form....lol. The same card sequences appeared! Sometimes in the same positions! I could almost start predicting them. I had to tell her that she had to give this guy space or he was going to take a hike. I said it nicely, mind you. But after a while I felt like saying, "seriously babe, keep shopping around for another guy, seriously." They broke up a week later. And I may have been a little squiffy too. But whatever....I put my cards away and I haven't touched them since. I respect their power. They have a pretty resting place. Have I rambled enough? lol....sorry Do your chart. If you have a question, you know where to find me ;D

Just had to try. Must say it was pretty damn accurate (scary), except for some minor details, including the following part: "You, and your entire generation, are extremely interested in anything deep and mysterious. You will explore and idealize the benefits that can accrue from the study of the occult ( ), healing and psychology. You are willing to experiment with substances like drugs ( ) in order to push your understanding of your inner being to the extreme." (Not that much of a hippie I'm afraid, I even gave up smoking 1,5 years ago.) But this made me giggle, so so true. This is me in a nutshell: "You tend to be quiet, reserved, secretive and, at times, quite difficult to understand. Others notice your deep emotions and feelings and wonder how to draw you out. Stubborn and tough, you fight for any position you believe in. You are very resourceful and formidable when you become angered or upset about something." "When you become upset or angry, your emotional reactions are overpowering -- reason and logic disappear in an uncontrollable passionate outburst. You tend to keep your thoughts secret and bottled up and this makes others regard you with suspicion. It is not that you are trying purposely to be evasive, it is just that you would rather not deal with the explosions and hassles that often occur when you reveal your true feelings and opinions. Your sense of humor tends toward sarcasm and irony." and "Your ideas and opinions are usually inventive and original, but sometimes they are merely eccentric and offbeat." ;D Now it's official: I'm just weird (as if we didn't know this already).

Just did mine too. Sorry, it's mostly inaccurate, some of it completely opposite. These are the only bits that struck any sort of chord: "Your moods are very important to your overall well-being. You are confident and self-assertive when you are feeling upbeat, and you are retiring, irritable and grumpy when you get depressed about anything." "You have a tendency to underestimate yourself and doubt your self-worth. This is very demeaning and should be avoided -- learn to love yourself as well as you do others." "You appreciate truth and honesty -- you practice it yourself and expect it in others. You have good talent for organizing, directing and planning. You delight in being asked for your advice and counsel." "You tend to be very reserved and shy, but, once you make a commitment to someone (in either a business or personal relationship), the partnership is forever."

Sometimes it's accurate and sometimes it's not. It's meant to explain to you why you think, feel or act the way you do. Mine is pretty on the mark though.
I'll give you an example of 'hitting the nail on the head'. I was severely cursed with:
Venus is in 09 Degrees Pisces. You have a dreamy, fanciful, romantic nature [gets me in trouble a lot!] and a very creative imagination. Indeed, at times, your private fantasies are more appealing than the reality around you and it is difficult for you to leave them. [yes, and the older I get the more I wish I could just tune out reality cuz it sucks]. You tend to be unselfish and very giving in relationships and are extremely sensitive of the needs of others. Be very sure that those you help are worthy of your devotion and are not merely taking advantage of your innocence and naivete.
Everyone in my [immediate] life takes advantage of either my romantic side or my giving side, and I'm still naive enough to let it happen. But I have no innocence left, so I hide when I need to lick my wounds. I was also cursed with Mercury is in 02 Degrees Pisces which makes me extremely impressionable.
But I was blessed with heavy hitters to protect me:
Rising Sign is in 27 Degrees Sagittarius Sun is in 17 Degrees Aquarius Moon is in 24 Degrees Capricorn Mars is in 28 Degrees Libra
These are my shields of armor[!!!] that give me the courage to fight back when someone's trying to hurt me [in a emotion sense - which happens a lot cuz I swear people love to f--k with my sensitive side just for amusement] or take advantage of me, and they snap me out of a "non-reality".
[True love often comes later in life for the lunar Capricorn - still wondering if that's true - cuz my idea of 'true love' hasn't exactly happened yet and I'm afraid it only exists in 'fairytales']
The outer planets are "generational" and have very long transits. I fall right into Neptune in Scorpio perfectly [and in a metaphorical sense, that's where I go to lick my wounds].

I read this in your last post, Snow and I just had to share a bumper sticker I saw the other day: "I Believe in Dragons, Good Men & Other Fairy Tale Creatures" What!!??!! There's no such thing as dragons??!! ;D ;D ;D ;D True love is out there. You just have to have the right net!!

There's no such thing as dragons??!! ;D ;D ;D ;D True love is out there. You just have to have the right net!! I'd love to put that bumper sticker on my car!
Do you know where I can get the right net? The whole 'true love' concept has been poking me hard lately and I wish it would stop teasing me or at least point me in the right direction, cuz it's a profound concept that my heart is insisting I discover before my last breath.
And the worst part is, the signs I am receiving tell me that I have to create it, and simply try to believe it [which tells me that true love does not exist at all - for me - just other people]. I don't want to create it, I want someone else to create it and take me by the hand to experience it with me. I've been creating situations my whole life for people to experience [I'm a little match-maker], and I'm always left on the side-lines to watch. [head goes down with a boo-boo lip]
Rambling on again.....gonna get some coffee and watch baseball highlights.
