Anyone else sick to death of the current repeats on that popular 'home of witty banter'?.... OK, there's no denying that eps of TG are infinitely watchable, but come on??!!

That always happens on that sort of channel. They're brilliant for the first few months, then when you've seen everything they have the right to broadcast 18 times already, it wears a bit thin. They do get new stuff, but they've already shown TG series 10 at least 3 times! They don't have enough variety to keep new material coming in at the rate it's needed. That's why I stopped paying for the Discovery Channels too. Once I'd recorded all my missing Time Team episodes (with the ad breaks in the wrong places, just to get in another 2 mins of revenue ), It was just the same things over & over again. I am getting to the point I want to throttle Josie Lawrence though...

Thanks, Sarah. I've just discovered a download of it. I'll see if that's OK, if not, will it fit on the same DVD as Mr Bailey?
Edit: It wasn't that after all, it was the Polar Special, so yes please, Sarah!

How about Jack Dee at the Apollo. Every blimmin' evening he's there on Dave. Not that I don't like him in moderation, but I have no desire to learn his act off by heart!
I thought the TG repeats had lessened now they've started showing *whisper* well another gear.

I think the word might be "overkill" especially where TG is concerned. I dont think ive watched an episode of it on David for several months. From about September 06 i was watching TG on UKTVG2 every evening, often the repeat that was on late at night. If i was home weekends id fit my schedule for UKtvPeople & UKtvG2 for most of the days & watching repeat after repeat often on the same day. I now only watch it when it's on the BBC on a Saturday. Some of you might be thinking how can you get tired of TG? Not tired of TG tired of bloody repeats that's what

Actually, I agree, Cheese. I've stopped watching most of the time, unless it's an episode I've somehow managed to miss or it's one I particularly like and haven't seen in a while. If it's on, it might be on in the background, but I'm not actually watching it as such - it's just the most pleasant background noise available (especially when they've got the Ascari).
It's not that I'm tired of TG, or even that I'm tired of repeats per se... I'm sick of those bloody Halford's ads and I'm tired of the episodes being mangled to make room for them. And I'm grateful for Dave...er... allowing the occasional gear change because it gives me something different to look at. The last thing I want to happen is to reach the point of "familiarity breeding contempt" and losing the appreciation TG (which has been part of my viewing life since my late teens) - but it's a bit like anything lovely, if you have too much it stops being a good thing. So I'm weaning myself off Dave for a while...

Yes, i was going to say something along the lines of having too much of a good thing, as well. Which goes back to the original post by Liz that the series is "infinitely watchable". Erm....no.

I suppose what I meant by that was, whilst the repeats are getting very tiresome now, and I'm not watching as religiously as I used to, if I do watch, I do still enjoy? Also, even to this day I still keep spotting new things in episodes that I may have missed on previous occasions!

Actually I kind of agree, I do religiously watch them on BBC3 or BBC2 when they show the complete episode but whilst I'm doing other stuff, it can be on in the background, however if I miss it due to something else being on it's not a big worry. Dave is just another useful bit of exposure for the programme.
But it is nice when you're feeling a bit rubbish and you find TG or something related is on, helps to forget your worries whilst it is on. I'm just glad they no longer have that bloody sat nav sponsoring motoring anymore the sing song music, did my head in!

I used to love watching TG on Dave, but like you say, since they don't show anything new, I haven't watched it for about a month, more so since they started to advertise 5thGear in the ads. And the ads! Argh, they seem to go on fooooorrreeeeeeeeeeeeevvveeeeeeeeeeeeerrrr!
I hate David TV *hmph*

I've only seen half of TGOTP, and would love to see the entire episode. And what is Stars in their Cars? do you mean stars in fast cars? that was a program they did for sport relief in 2004

I don't hate David TV. Granted, it's bl**dy irritating at times (mainly the bit just before the end of the ad break!) but they have given me my entire back catalogue of TG series 2-7, albeit a little chopped up with half the fun bits removed!

I am constantly watching the episodes of top gear on Dave. plus the repeats & the repeats again lol I'm not bored. i sometimes have it as background while I am on the compy & only really look up when I hear James.

Funnily enough, I've been spending more time on Dave since I last posted on this thread than I have in ages. It's not been intentional; it's just good background noise for the revision! But I notice that there has been some re-editing of the Halfords things, especially of some of the ones I complained most bitterly about. Perhaps I'm not alone in my having a friendly word with them ;D

I think that Dave should repeat TG from the beginning of the new format. I'm only a recent fan and i'd quite like to see a lot of the old episodes that i've never seen before.
Well, series two anyway. As long as James is there.

I think it did get repeated somewhere because my mate in Holland, a long time ago, sent me a DVD rom with TG eps on it that she downloaded from somewhere and Series 1 was on it as was Series 2 and Series 4.

If anyone is interested, according to Dave's website, they are showing Series 4 of TG over the next couple of weeks, beginning on Tuesday at 12 noon. You would have to check your on screen digi-guide though for confirmation, last time I checked the Dave website it said that they were showing a particular episode and then they didn't, they showed another one instead. I think there may even be an episode form series 2 being shown as well.

The only thing I like about Dave recently- is that a voice over man said once that they should change the channel name to James. lol.
But today I was like wow! TG from 12 'till half 6!! But they seemed to repeat the same 3 episodes... over and over... and they've been the same episodes that they showed last week. >_< I wish they'd try a diffirent series now... im 'bored' of the one they keep repeating. lol

Yes, that's what Dave does, but I looked up the Radio Times website too and they listed the 'new' old eps at the same times as the Dave listings on its site so we are in for (hopefully) some 'new' old eps starting from tomorrow at 12 noon.
