Oh it's been sold at auction and now they're selling it on. Not fit for wearing. Very second second hand then. Fiona apparently joined in 2005.

Me too Though those bike pics, with the said helmet are dated the 8th of July, maybe he has a new one ;D

I suspect the helmet is not particularly unique (apart from the autograph...) Triumph produce them commercially so he's likely to have had more than one.

Also, the signature is dated... I think it says '2000'?

Only two people have bid on it, though there are four bids recorded. Bidder one obviously started at £50 and probably put in their maximum bid too at the same time. Bidder two has bid a couple of times to try and beat bidder one's maximum, which has triggered a higher bid by bidder one, and will continue to do so until bidder one's maximum is surpassed.
The agent's note cautions that this helmet is for memorabilia purposes only and should not be worn (or words to that effect). So probably James has got rid of it because it has been dropped or something and as such no longer offers adequate protection. (I am no expert, but remember when my girls used to cycle and had helmets, that there was a warning that they should be replaced if they were dropped, and assuming the same applies to motorcycle crash helmets.)
I can't understand why there is no mention of a charity on the ebay page though. Surely they wouldn't give it to someone for personal gain, unless the person was genuinely needy, I suppose, in which case fair dos.

It's recommended that you replace a polycarbonate helmet after 2 years & a fibreglass one after 3. Not that many people take much notice of that. They tend to get replaced when they're involved in an accident or fall apart from old age!
Could this be one that was bought in a charity auction a while ago and is now being sold on and the one we're all familiar with is Triumph Helmet MkII?

As MF said it probably needed replacing and that's true maibee no mention of charity so suppose it's up to you whether anyone bids, if anyone does and wins, well good luck

Or at least a part of that body! £185 and it'd need storing some place and dusting! Tut! I think I'll settle for the picture! Gazing is free! EDIT - I guess that confirms that I am not the winning bidder, Flutterbuttocks! Good match for Mr May's Chafed Buttocks though, I s'pose!
