Can anyone explain...?

Opening a thread for those bits and pieces that someone might have an answer for, starting with this one:

I've just picked up on a very short out-take on Youtube where James is talking about times he can suddenly feel depressed while driving. Jeremy comes back at him with "When you think of a bar 6?" The camera cuts to him and he's laughing. James is completely lost for words, turns to the audience and says "This is a private matter", then turns back to Jeremy and says "Shut your f ing face, (can't catch the next word)".

Does anyone have the faintest idea what's going on there?

Thanks, Wyvern. Reading that, I realised that later in the thread was the first time I ever posted on the board (though not in response to the question like mine). I've obviously come a long way since then - and also lost a chunk of my memory!

James has actually mentioned the "black dog " at other times, principally in Oz and James when he talked about his tendency to drink whisky when feeling depressed.

Talking of dark places Dit that moment you mention is one of my favourite glimpses into James's inner self. I could watch that moment over and over again. Lots of rich description from James. The conversation between him and Oz goes like this. (off to the Sado corner for me now!)


James: "That’s remarkable ...... wow ....... that is an exceptional exceptionally exciting whisky drink experience and your still an ugly b*****d. Whisky normally takes me to frankly a very dark place (sort of cupboard). As soon as I smell whisky and certainly as soon as I taste it, it’s the world closing in slightly, until I’m in a, I suppose, what in Scotland would be like a windowless bothy on a dark night with the rain outside, it’s a last refuge and beyond that all hope is lost and that’s where whisky is and it will either take you into the abyss or it will release you from it. But with this one it’s like one of those moments of great clarity of thought, you put it on your tongue and there is a moment when you see all the Jesus light coming through the sky and the clouds parting and the rain lifting and all those things, it’s very brief and then it’s gone again but it’s there"
Oz: "because at the bottom of Pandora’s box lay hope"
James: "exactly, if you dared to open it"
Oz: Ah James, your still an ugly b*****d as well, and you still talk complete twaddle once you’ve had a few but finally whisky led you away from the dark place.
