Could've been for a charity to raise awareness for breast cancer (pink being the theme for breast cancer charities and the bras were indeed pink). That's one possible explanation...

I have often wondered the same thing myself.

I'm absolutely certain it was for a cancer awareness charity, I remember reading about it at the time, but I've failed to find any evidence - sorry!

I have to say that it looks like a training bra. I'm sure James has had bigger zits!

There was a song James sang about bras - think this might be the explanation. Sadly the link doesn't work...
"James singing Ladies Bras At number 38 in the UK top 40 singles chart this week is Jonny Trunk & Wisbey with The Ladies' Bras.
Scott Mills got James May and Oz Clarke to sing this 30 second dittie (the words are The Ladies Bras, The Ladies Bras) while on their show.
It's VERY FUNNY. here"
This is from a final gear post.

I like how their reactions are different. Richard's clearly thinking "Oh God, what if someone I know sees this picture?" and James is thinking "Pink isn't really my color... but I think I can still work it."

Yes I remember that, it was on a radio interview I think also with Oz and they sang the ladies bra song and I seem to remember Glam ripped it and put it somewhere...*goes and looks* (sorry don't know if that is anything to do with the pics Aaurora! )

Odd. It works on mine. It just has a sound file that you can play. Perhaps it's a browser issue? I'm using Firefox.

I take that back its cropped up in the middle of my classical music list. It now sounds very odd from Clair de Lune to James and Oz singing ladies bras. Thanks Mightybabs (lovin that name by the way)

If anyone wants another link, I think I may have one kicking around...
ETA: Nevermind, looks like you guys got it working. Think my link's the entire interview plus the song...
Well, I'll still hunt it down and post it if there's interest.

Can I just point out at this juncture that this thread comes up on the home page as
"James and Richard holdin..."
which leads the imagination in all sorts of interesting directions!
