Hi all! I thought we should have a day of actually celebrating James May, as in - him, his work, his dashing good looks...etc. Basically, I came up with this idea to avoid Fathers Day (here in England) on Sunday June 19th There are some basic rules for the day, you must watch one thing with James in and you must post an image on here of something James related that you would send him or a picture of James that is your favourite and tell us why. There will be cake, drink, towels and buckets. All are welcome and all are allowed to invite as many as you like. Let's see how far we can spread the word? James May Day - bring your friends!

I'm in favor, but why Fathers' Day? Why not his birthday, or the anniversary of his first episode with Top Gear?

Probably because some of us don't have father's, like me? Just jk. Well, my all time fave picture..... was VERY hard to decide, as I have fave pics in different categories, like: very hot, cute, sexy, nice etc... But I had to choose for this picture (or actually it's a screenshot), as I have to honor where I'm known for: I have a thingy for sleeping people, especially men with, well, see for yourself:

Okay, Im going to fess up here. I sent James a package and letter back in April, the postage cost more than the items, but he is worth it. ;D What I sent him was: 1: Spam the Cookbook 2:In the Cockpit 2: Inside History-Making Aircraft of World War II book 3: A packet of fun size Cherry Ripe Bars 4: A box of Turkish Delight 5: A letter and some photos taken at the New Zealand Air Force Museum in Christchurch NZ - I recently reread my letter to James and I sound like a complete babbly baboon. My fave picture of James and why: A little while back I was having a rough trot and this picture was on my desktop and I sat talking to this picture on my monitor for a good half an hour - I know the picture cant talk but I felt better after I got things off my chest. Sounds silly I know but it did help Today I have been watching the Top Gear Challenges 2 DVD and later on I hope to unwrap James' man on the moon dvd that I havent watched yet, was saving it for a special occassion and James May Day certainly is.

pesepheny18 I think that's sweet you sent him things that you thought he'd like. Clever idea about chatting with the picture. Why haven't I thought of that yet?

As one of the things I love doing is send people all over the world things from my country, I'd DEFO send James a package with things if I knew for sure that I had the right address, otherwise it'd be a shame if it ended up some place else.. So it would be great if someone on this board could give me an address that's garanteed going to James, as from the minute I started liking this person, I've wanted to send him goodies.
What I'd send him: Stroopwafels (Dutch syrup cookies) Drop (Licquarice, it's originally Dutch) Some sort of Airfix (not that brand though) of the Dutch plane company "KLM" or a modelcar of one of our cars (f.e. the spyker). Speculaas (spiced cookie, also typically Dutch) Salmiak knotsen (He's fond of candy, so I'd send him typical Dutch lolly pops, that most foreign people don't like, I'd be curious if he'd like it. ;D ) Hagelslag (Dutch thingies for on your bread, sprinkles/sprankles in English) Maybe a typical Dutch souvenir, f.e. something that's got to do with cloggies or tulips.

nat: That sounds wonderful nat, Im sure he would be delighted with those items. I too like sending Australian related products/souvenirs to friends all over the world too, it's a great sharing of cultures etc. @adrianmany: I hope he liked what I sent him. Chatting to desktop pictures is a great stress releaser as long as no one catches you doing it.

Thanks Pesepheny, I hope he would be! Great to have found someone else who likes doing what I do. Could you perhaps PM me the address to where you sent your items? Im sure it's the right one, as you wouldn't spend so much money if you didnt know for sure it's the right address.

I have never thought about sending him anything... Suppose I might send a book, some Finnish classic translated in English. Perhaps a self-drawn portrait? Guess I would have to send some "salmiakki" (salty liquorice/ with ammonium chloride), a black candy that most Finns love and carry with them when travelling abroad. He might not like it, though

Salmiakki!! Salmiak! Yes yes, that's the taste of the typical Dutch lolly pops I was talking about. Ohhhhhhhhhhh, jesus, how could I forget?!!! Ellow? *knocks on own head* I'm REALLY getting insane here................ What do I ALWAYS give to people when meeting them on conventions?!! A portrait!! So I am going to draw him a portrait of him in perhaps TG or.... well, with the Flying Scotsman..!! Thanks for reminding me, Grizabella ;D

I celebrated James May Day by watching the Bolivia TG special with the kids, and I've been sitting here at my computer for the last hour pretending to work, but really watching James on You Tube... As for what I'd send to James, hhhmm....everyone has suggested the Cherry Ripe (I lurve Cherry Ripes!!), but I'd also send him some TimTams (delish Australian biscuit). If he has a bit of a sweet tooth, I'm sure he'd love the TimTams!! I've also decided to show my most favourite picture of James, I know I have put it on here many times before, but I just can't get enough of it!! Happy James May day all!! Hope this is the start of an annual celebration!! Good on you Morgan for starting it off!!

Thanks babe! I'm sending him some Fine English Socks that my mum has designed for some posh shops in London. I'm sending him really colourful ones because he likes bright colours. The socks are about £60 a pair, but I can get them free so it's all good! I shall send him a nice letter explaining International JM Day. And the fact that I want to marry him and have his babies. (or probably not lol) I'm spending the day watching Top Gear, Toy Stories and Wine Adventures

Great idea. I watched the three wise men, early hours of this morning. I had a think about suitable presents and came up with this lot: He'll eat many a fruitcake but it will never taste as good as his mothers The drink that built Great Britain and probably sobered up James a good few times, plus after all the larking around scavving free drinks across the country, the conclusion was that the best british drink was tea. And, as he is officially the biggest kid in England.... This model comes as a kit so he'd have to build it first. Favourite pic I have many, but this one will be special as it appeared around the same time as I arrived here. It has stubble and it has grey hair and it just... well.... *ahem* TAXI!

Do wish I could have participated on the day. Obligations, you know. They never cease. ;D I do, however, have plans on watching the wine adventures again over the next few days. Better late to international James May Day than not to participate at all!! ;D As far as favorite pics go, this has to be my all time favorite. There is something in his expression that is quintessentially James. But lately, this one has been creeping into my thoughts more and more. I've even made it my phone wallpaper.
