Thanks for posting that Dit,I enjoyed james selection and his narractive that went with them. I did have a bit of a chuckle about the fact that being a choir boy gives you a thorough grounding in satanism.

I quite enjoyed that, Dit. James is very forthcoming about his likes and dislikes. Speaking of which, you may want to see this video of a program called, "Face in the Frame" in which various celebs sit for a recreation of a famous portrait done by the convicted art forger, John Mayatt. James May was his guest on the following program and he is asked to describe his "ideal woman." Interesting answer and manner comes about 4 minutes into Part 2. www.dailymotion.com/video/xh1v1c_james-may-fame-in-the-frame-1-2_creation

I enjoyed that very much. I favor art that tends to be like 'The man of sorrows' painting.I have a book on burials in England that has amazing paintings in. I like seeing things that represent the human condition. Dali is one of my absolute favs it's like looking into a disturbed mind were nothing is as it seems.
Lordy I'm feeling deep today.

I don't think any of us are Spice girls hun, neither would we aspire to be. Everybody has something beautiful about them inside or out.
(Unless your an ugly b****** who fell out of the ugly tree, hitting every branch as you go).

I can't believe a gem of video like that was tucked away somewhere. His painting choices are such "boy" choices. Trains, planes, knights, crucifixions. Even the colors of the paintings, with the exception of the Raphael, are the typical boy choices of blues and browns. His interpretation of the Braque was strange. So, is he saying that he's attracted to this painting because of what he interprets the woman's feelings to be? He says he feels she is enjoying posing nude, "She's smoldering slightly", yet he feels, "there is some deep unhappiness in this somewhere". In my very brief art school experience, I've known very few nude models that were happy to be posing but were doing it for a buck. Maybe that's the unhappiness. Ugly painting, boring subject, interesting composition. EDIT: Had a rethink. Think I get this painting now. Not ugly. Still don't know what James is talking about. Strange man. James' attraction to the faces in the Raphael is interesting. Although, he is in danger of falling into 'the face of a patient and disappointed Madonna' cliche. Does he like his women slightly sad? Interesting. Here James, this is a nicer Raphael for you to enjoy her "fantastically lovely" face. i1141.photobucket.com/albums/n584/adrianmay/cali/RaphaelMadonnaCowper.jpg"...that's why Pleasure's clothing are a little more diaphanous and comfortable looking and Virtue's are a bit austere and I suspect slightly itchy." ;D Yes James, virtue is a little itchy. I love this man.

Raphael is also known for his well rounded women. When he was talking about that painting which I also studied in art history, I said almost the exact words.
