Here it is. The new red jacket. Compared to Paddington Bear on Twitter. You be the judge.

In these parts, when the occasion arises to comment on someone or something and you don't have anything positive to say, you reply with a "God love him." I am saying that now.

I thought that red jacket was very similar to his custard yellow one, but I'd obviously misremembered as, now I look back, they're only similar in their 'unusualness'.

I wonder if he borrowed it off Sarah.

At least the new one looks nice and warm. Who among us has not donned regrettable attire for the sake of warmth?

Here it is. The new red jacket. Compared to Paddington Bear on Twitter. You be the judge. I previously described this jacket as "ever so slightly girly". I was wrong. It's really, really girly. I'd wear it. 10 out of 10 for, er, individualism though.

He has been prone to a jacket with a furry lining before. He wore this one in a Meet The Author promotional video in (I think) 2009, and had the same one on when he went to 'Simon Cowell's house' and left him an award with the milk bottles. I seem to remember that the jacket was short and tight-fitting.

I find the fact that he often dresses fairly oddly charming. It's so hit-or-miss.
Jeremy and Richard have fairly consistent formulas to how they dress and rarely throw out any surprises, while James sometimes puts together a really good outfit and looks fantastic (like his recent One Show interview) and other times looks like a colour-blind geography teacher from the 1970s. Those days when he misses spectacularly serve to point up the days when he knocks it bang on the head.

Thanks! And UC is as good as anything else, I'd say.

It does look girly, but then, so what? If it was Paddington Bearish it would have wooden toggles to close it, with strings. It's James' and I love him.

Where's his rucksack? Flippin' tourist.
Alright, I'm starting to laugh at these outfits. They might even be starting to grow on me. I must be mellowing or maybe they've just worn me down.

I'm probably the last person on earth who should be giving fashion advice, but I think the hat and jacket should be put on the nearest kindling pile ASAP. I actually really like the sweater -- it sort of reminds me of a TV broadcasting static. I guess the orange jumper made it to the wash ;D Why on earth is his hat not pulled down fully on his head with the brim rolled up? It's going to flap like a rooster's comb if he's outside in the wind

All I can think of is that the fan in the picture with him gave him the hat. And he's popped it on to be polite - - - Actually, I think that's rubbish. He's simply clueless.

The shirt reminds me of cheap, handmade curtains in an old lakeside cabin. I can smell the mildew. Does that make it retro?

It kind of reminds me of a Liberty print. If you go and look at the Liberty website at the men's shirts, you'll see quite a lot of them look like James-May-Style-Flowery-Shirts.

I think not. Just steal grandma's depression era flour sack curtains. The flowery shirt and the velvet sport coat were in fashion the last two fall/winters here. It has even reached the bargain department store price point level now. *Whispers* I made my hubby try one on...I think it's a young person's fashion. Unfortunately, he liked the shirt.

Well I'll be. Nice find Unusalcurry and Ljcteehee. Just to mock me, that's the only flowery shirt I've yet publicly (on here) admitted to liking.
