Enjoyed tonight. The Corsa/Panda bit was good. Loved the fact James turned up in a Hyundai estate as I have the same one! Liked the Sweeney stuff but Richard was annoying me. Jezza made some good points about the cars and brakes. If you like cars you will sit in the cinema complaining they have the wrong cars.
Overall it was a safe episode and there was not enough James. I give it an 8

and its a seven from me!
it was going very well until the Sweeney bit - too silly, and 5 minutes too long!

I agree with the Knight. I started to get very irritated in the Sweeney section, but enjoyed James thoughts on the Corsa and Panda.

I've been over to Final Gear to get most of my whining off my chest. They're used to it over there.
That was a waste of what could have been a really good segment. If they'd shot Hammond with a tranquiliser dart and let Clarkson get on with it, he might have made something of it. Interestingly, someone on FG has posted a link to Richard Porter's Twitter feed. He is clearly disassociating himself from that film, and not a bit happy about it, so things are obviously not always love, peace and harmony in Top Gear land.
James' bit was nice, but I still feel short changed when he doesn't do his own driving. He's done it before, so we know he's capable. He should stop resorting to using the Stig.
Apart from that, it was great!

First of all, James looked gorgeous. He was gorgeous in that green jacket (I want one just like it), and his hair is a gorgeous length. When he made that engine noise, I nearly died. And then I did die when I saw how he was sitting during the news.
After I was resuscitated, I thought the news was very funny and Ryan Reynolds was pretty good. Sweeney was OK.
Have to give it a "9" because of the gorgeous Jamesness.

I've been cooking all evening and told MOH to let me know if they got killed or sacked in the car chase filming part. I got bored pretty fast.
On the plus side I'll have cupcakes in 20 minutes fresh from the oven!
Really loved James' segment. He was so cute going "Whee!" in that Panda and really looked like he was having fun. While going into the car chase filming segment, we all knew they were going to do a rubbish job and make a rubbish chase. But I was more bored watching them cock it up than amused.
I went with a 5.

I've just finished watching it, and I must be easily pleased as I enjoyed it.
Mind you, I realised a long time ago that it you accept from the start that the guys are
Jeremy - the intelligent, naughty child James - the sanity Richard - the cartoon character
then it becomes much more straightforward to see the balance of what's going on.
In general I enjoy James working with Jeremy and James working with Richard but not normally Jeremy and Richard. However, on this occasion it gave an opportunity for Jeremy to be the character with gravitas over Richard's silliness.

A 6 from me - the James feature was 'proper' Top Gear - as to him leaving the lap to the Stig - he probably knew that there would be a more favourable result as Stig is the expert and while I'm on the subject, power sliding at high speed through corners doth not a good driver make - but it is nevertheless an awesome skill.
After reading comments elsewhere that lots of people skip watching the SIARPC, I found Ryan Reynolds entertaining and interesting to listen to, even despite the new film plug.
Richard is so not funny - the other two are naturals. He spoiled the Sweeney bit for me. Jeremy was hilarious and saved the day.

I honestly don't know what to rate it out of 10 - some of it was boring, some of it was classic TG and there were a few moments when I was literally crying from laughing so hard. It was obviously meant to be a lame attempt at a car chase, but the end result of Jeremy and Richard's efforts had me in stitches. Just my kind of humour, I suppose. (And it's late, I'm tired and I'm full of beer. ;D) The Sweeney segment was too long, I agree. I don't mind Hammond being a livewire but it's when they're sticking to the script and trying to act it out that it starts to get cringeworthy. It's so obvious that they're acting and it makes it very predictable. (In their defence, however, they did the best they could with the idea, which I don't think was one of the best they've ever had to work with.) James looked seriously fabulous: another colourful checked shirt (I'm very partial to those) and the green jacket in the Corsa/Panda bit caught my eye in a big way. As did Hammond, I must admit. Very much liking the short 'do on him. *clock ticks* *thinking music*I'll give it an 8, simply because it was better than a 7 but not good enough for a 9.

For me, it was one of those episodes that got worse at it went along. Liked the beginning and the car tests. News was good as usual. Then the guest - started to lose interest - then the Sweeney, especially the second bit - too long, a bit embarrassing, a bit desperate, a bit boring. So much so that I turned off. Like James having longer hair again though.

Just catching up with all this .... Just to say I enjoyed the first two episodes very much. Last nights.... not so. I loved James' critique of the Corsa (agree he should have done his own driving tho') i loved how is face lit up at the wheel of the Panda - it was like all his christmas' had come at once! News was superb...wheer is that DVD? ;D Agree Ly... loving the hair length at the mo, although if i had been there i would have felt compelled to flaten the flyaway'ness (word???) of his hair during the news ;D

I give this a 7 mainly because it felt like the Sweeney bit went on a bit too long. There was one section of James in the beginning and he was in the news and in bits and pieces and that was it? James did look adorable driving his Panda...like a kid in a candy store. And I liked his choice of shirt with the jacket in the studio. I'm more of a stripey polo person myself, but I'm catching on to the plaid. I too am disappointed that he won't do his own driving, either (wasn't he the alleged Stig at some point in TG's history?). But maybe there is a reason for it.

difficult.... There wasnt enough James in it to begin with. There was too much Jeremy and Richard, even though the humor in this epi was good ;D yet... I dont know why, but I liked it less than usual. James looked yummy indeed! Im going to give it aaaaaaa 7.

The Fail's at it again. They never give up, do they? www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2101288/Top-Gear-wont-brake-swearing--driving-viewers-wall.htmlMind you, on the topic of the Great British Public complaining, two members of the audience of the play I'm doing this week complained at the interval that there was smoking on stage and it's illegal - despite the fact that just before the start of the play an announcement was made that pointed out "artificial cigarettes will be used during this play."

I gave this episode a 7. James' power test was great. Wasn't that jacket the one he wore in a Fuller's ad? Anyway, even though I'm not in the market for a car, I was truly interested in how he found the cars, what he liked and disliked etc. The guest was actually better than I expected. I'd never heard of him nor had I seen him in anything, but I think those are the best guests. I don't have any expectations going into the interview. The Sweeney... well... it was definitely too long. I had flashbacks to the VW ad and the Top Gear/Ground Force special. It felt really strange agreeing with Jeremy for the entire segment. It was terribly predictable, and painful. And yes Jacqui, flyaway'ness should be a word, and he definitely needed to run his hand through his hair.

Oh for heavens sake. So they used a couple of 'Bad Words', I'm sure the BBC 'Beeped' over them. It's not as if 'Top Gear' is a kiddie program, or that every other word out of the guys mouths is an expletive.

No mention of the fact that the Mayster swore during the news, but if Jeremy had said it.....
Makes me wonder where all these nutters live as it isn't in the real world. Some of them have obviously not heard the language that pours out of the mouths of some teens

Pie, how did you see it? I can't see an upload link on here. HELP! I downloaded it off thebox.bz. If I knew how to, I'd upload it somewhere, but I've never done it before... Just had a look on Final Gear - there are links to downloads there, if that helps (you need to be a member though).

A lot of the upload sites are closing down because of what happened to megaupload. Sorry everyone, but my advice now is to suggest you learn to torrent or how to proxy in and be able to watch it on iPlayer.

Fizzy you have taken the words right out of my mouth (keyboard?) that I was going to say! I also have voted for a nine due to James's loveliness this episode. His segment was wonderful and although I can see why others thought it a shame he didn't drive the lap it was fun seeing him in the passenger seat! Loving his hair length this series too As for the Sweeny bit... MOH though it was hilarious.... Me not so much. Hamster and Jezza were both annoying me a bit in it.

WE recorded the series while we were away but the machine, in it's wisdom has missed off episodes 1 and 2 so, this is the first one we saw.
I enjoyed it. Not massively, but it was good fun. Not enough James didn't help matters. I did laugh at the Sweeney contrivance at times: I thought Jeremy was very good in it. But it's turning into Last of the Summer Wine now: not so old of course and a darn sight more attractive but I hope you get my drift. We will watch the other recordings over the next few days I expect. And I'll watch epi's 1 and 2 online later on. I hope get to see more of James......
