Can't wait to see the Saab tribute. My connection was too bad today to see it live. Always had a soft spot for Saabs. They are just so ugly and boxy that they're cute. All the mommies when I was little had Mercedes and BMWs with a few who had Volvos but there was always one and just one who had a Saab. I always thought of that mom as the eccentric sophisticate. Something very subtlely "continental" about her. I have weird taste. EDIT: Since I've never owned or driven one, are they horrible to drive? Anyone know?

I've given it an 8. This is mainly because I am sick of the Star in the Reasonably Priced Car part. It bores me senseless I loved the SAAB tribute though. It was really interesting, and well documented. A very good tribute to another unfortunate dissolved company. I'm waiting of a special though. Want them to cock about more. I enjoy that! The crazy chap that was like BuzzLightyear was good too. Hammond looked like he cakced himself

I really enjoyed that The SAAB film in particular was wonderful, but it was just an entertaining, all-round solid episode. Nice. But honestly, Jeremy and James were such a pair of husbands in that SAAB film. Just adorable <3

Ugly and boxy? Are you insane, woman? ;D
When that 900 Turbo came out in the eighties, every other car on the road looked like a load of packing cases nailed together. It was the age of angles - not a curve amongst them (apart from the 911, but that was driven by pillocks in red braces, so everyone hated them anyway). Then the Saab Turbo turned up, with its subtly curved windscreen and roof line and that long, long bonnet....I can't tell you how much I wanted to own one. I still think it's a stunning car. My brother in California owned one for a time, and still goes misty-eyed at the memory of it.
The later models just looked like Vauxhalls.
The show? Well, it had a Saab 99 Turbo in it, so it can't have been bad. And I think Matt Smith is a nice chap.

I really loved the SAAB piece. It was really interesting. I love seeing James and Jeremy work together.

My brother in California owned one for a time, and still goes misty-eyed at the memory of it. The later models just looked like Vauxhalls. Hee hee, no I'm not crazy in regards to the Saabs of the 80s. They looked like malformed jelly beans but they were definitely distinctive. I was fascinated at their eccentricity and their promise of safety features (no one else seemed to care at the time, maybe Volvo). And yes, the only 911 owners I knew then were dentists, psychologists, and the occasional young stock broker. Need I say more. So, if your brother had one, what was it like? Really, I'm curious. I saw a lady driving one the other day with a surf board on the roof. That was a new twist. Holy poo, come on! I need to download this epi. Impatient! EDIT: I am so sorry to edit myself again but my husband has just told me something that has shaken my image of the Saab. He informs me that Saab was going for a sporty sedan with their cars . Really?! That was supposed to be sporty? I'm so confused. It's a yuppie mom's car. I told my husband I'd never seen a man drive a Saab and he said, "Yes you have. Remember in college so-on-and-so-forth had a Saab?" I said, "Yeah, but it was a hand-me-down from his mom!" I'm going to have to think about this some more. So confused.

Like last week, a well-balanced episode which kept me interested throughout.
Because of that, and to me that's what it's all about, I gave it 9.

Yes, very fine episode indeed. As a Finn I was very happily surprised to see Toni, The Flying Finn driving with Richard..shame the didn't quite beat the flying (literally) Swissman. And also got very emotional during the bit about Saab. I just love the look of the old round-formed Saabs (like the 95), we also had one when I was a child.
Yet another great episode well worth watching again.

All i am going to say is well done editors for getting all that news down to 8 minutes ;D Even though the best bits are on the cutting room floor ;D I hope they put James hopping away from the car in his sleeping bag on the out takes on TG website - thats all I am saying about that ;D

Finally saw the show. It was a good solid episode in classic TG style ie the show was about cars, the presenters where both informative and entertaining and the look and feel of the segments were attractive and engaging. Gave it an 8. Loved James in the sleeping bag. Silly, cute man.

Enjoyed what I saw. Missed the first bit and came in at the end of the news so I will just have to watch it again. But loved the piece on Saab (poor Saab ) and the Star was a good one too.

Great fun, well-balanced, motorbased. My only (tiny) comment is that although I enjoyed the first segment, I found it a little bit too long. So a good solid 9 (and a half, but we don't do halves).

My favourite bit was the Saab piece - I found the first Saab car a rather intriguing piece of kit, and the 90 *dribbles* I've always loved the shape of the 90.
I quite enjoyed the jet plane/car race too. Richard always gives good value on terrified noises ;D but that guy must be nutty! He deserves full marks for bravery. Can't imagine how it must have felt, slinging himself and his jet wings out of a helicopter for the first ever proper trial run.

Hated the race-from Top Gear at the movies and I didn't like them recycling old stuff. Enjoyed the news most of all!

I have to admit that one of my favourite parts of each episode is always going to be the news. Even though they (shamefully!) cut out the "good bits" it seemed that you could tell that the audience was laughing harder in some spots than may have been warranted. I hope Little Chef enjoys all the free publicity ;D

Gave it a 10 as both Hubby and I thought it was a fab episode with lots of good car bits and the right amount of banter... And it had Dr Who as well..... ;D Thought the Saab bit was quite sad really. Remembered some of the dreadful adverts as well from the eighties (showing my age there!) but thought Jezza and James did a lovely piece. Funniest bit..... James driving in a sleeping bag Scariest bit.... When the jet man jumped off the helicopter and plummeted to the ground

Quite liked it actually. Nice seeing the Doctor for the SIARPC (I haven't watched Dr Who, but someday I may). He's a cute guy. Loved seeing the husbands out for a drive in the Saab. I'm glad TG is doing more stuff with them together. And only James would remember the upholstery color in his old girlfriend's car but not remember her name. (sigh) No report on how well/poorly Richard did on his...challenge? We don't need to see it, I'm just...curious of the outcome is all. I gave it an 8. ;D

Liked it less than last epi, gave it an eight. Didnt like what Jeremy said about Holland and that James agreed with it, about the handcuffs and stuff.... but then.... maybe he was helping me by saying to James something awaits him when he's going to visit me.... Because man, didnt James look damn fine!! Trustme, same here: best part to me is the news!

I am so, so glad that there was an episode in this series upon which I could bestow a 10. The piece on Saab was a bit sad (note crying high violins towards the end ;D) but it was also very interesting and informative. And it reminded me so much of the Commie cars piece that Jeremy and James did. I reckon there are some comparable screencaps... I really enjoyed the rocketman race, the news was funny and Matt Smith wasn't too bad either. James in the sleeping bag was an absolute scream. Immediate mental image: Sebastian from The Little Mermaid. ;D Something I must say about this series is that out of the TG3, Jeremy is the one who's made me laugh the most. He's my least favourite but for some reason he's been hitting my funny bone a lot lately.
