I think this might seem a bit sad, but I've had my beloved stripey jumper for nearly 20 years... it's magenta and bright blue and should probably be consigned to the dustbin. Especially as some people look FAR better in stripey jumpers than I do ;D
I wonder if James is going to have some new ones next series? They seem to be in all the shops at the moment!

Stripey strips are not my predilection - I'm more of an adventurous design enthusiast.
As a great man* once said to John Prescott "The joy of a woolly jumper is that you can take it off at will, whereas the blight of a woolly mind is that you are lumbered with it for life"
*Gyles Brandreth, but I do adore him

At the weekend a wide flat silver car (Aston I think) went up the hill past our house, female in passenger seat, male in driving seat wearing stripey jumper very like the one above!
I noticed it from an upstairs window approaching through the village, and watched it come up the hill; it caught my eye, so different from our humble local conveyances. We live in a remote touristy area with famous bendy roads popular with bikers. I was high above it so didn't see driver's face close to but had clear view of jumper. Could it possibly, just possibly have been???
I like to think it was ;D

Oh my God!!!! Yes!!!! It looked very like it. The shape of the headlights and everything!!!!!!! I was too high up to get a good look at the badge. But I didn't think he had an Aston... I'm in Snowdonia, though. But it is a great place for driving and scenery and we are on one of those fab biking/driving roads!!

Eclair, I've noticed you (sensibly) fogged out the plate which reminded me of the other reason why I thought it could have been him. There was possibly some subtle personalisation on the plate I saw. Unless it was just my head making wishful associations. You will know what I mean if you have seen the numberplate. To our moderators, I wouldn't dream of revealing the plate, just in case it WAS him. By the way, the driver drove very carefully and sensibly past all the parked cars and up the hill. There wasn't the least hint of showing off

Snowdonia is in Wales. So perhaps not really very likely Too many mystic imaginings in my own head, perhaps. And I obviously know nothing about cars I'd better get back to choir practice. Hwyl fawr i chi i gyd, Bayleaf

Perhaps to appease all us affronted Wales-dwellers (I am actually mostly English, but spiritually Welsh) he has come here on a fact finding mission! Maybe we will hear in a future Telegraph article.

I know. They say the programme encourages young men to drive too fast, but it really encourages women to stare at drivers of sports cars and nearly cause a major pile up!! ;D

bayleaf, on the silver car front James and the rest of the TG team are soooo not into personalised number plates and remembering when his Porsche was shown on 20th Century (I think it was) it didn't have a private plate Happy to be corrected

Of course, sometimes there are funny coincidences with number plates. I could always spot an old boyfriend's car because although there were loads of old Volvos around, and a lot of them seemed to be dark blue, his plate happened to feature his initials. Obviously I haven't see James's, but is a "coincidence plate" a possibility?

Cheers Inky for the photo info. I'v seen Kerry Katona today shopping for a Lamborghini in the showroom just not far from where I live, I'd have rather it had been James, Richard or Jezza.

This didn't actually look like a private plate but there was a reference in it, which in conjunction with the jumper got me rather overexcited. And on that bombshell, for all us fantacists: James May Board (Wishful Thinking) Women’s Institute Anthem: And did that ancient Luscombe plane Fly o’er Mayhemers’ gardens green? And was the stripey jumper of James On Snowdon’s bendy highways seen? And did his countenance divine Shine forth on Totnes town so fair? And was his motorbike rebuilded in A Hammersmith suburban square? Bring him his burnished silver Porsche! Bring him his Roller of desire! Bring him his Brompton bike: unfold! His Panda, bright with yellow fire. I will not cease from dreaming here Nor shall my fantasies be banned Till I have seen James’s lovely face And shook his clean and pleasant hand. Sorry the end is a bit lame. A ruder version is swirling in my head which has no place here, might be suitable for the smut board ;D.

Speaking of car, in the latest edition of TG Mag, James is contemplating buying a new car. Wonder what he will go for? I can show him round loads of garages there is a whole host of them just down the road from me on St Mary's Way. Come back to Stockport James, we can do you a great deal!!!!
