Hello everyone, I'm new here -- though I have been lurking for awhile Does anyone have an mp3 or other audio file they could share of James' visit on the BBC Radio show "Private Passions"? Thank you. P.S. I forgot to mention that I found an old posting on this forum about the show, but the links have expired.

I have it on my laptop, but it will take an hour or so to upload it to Sendspace (it did last time). Is that ok?

That could be a lie. I think that it's on a CD that has been packed into a box (I'm in the process of moving) and it has been taken away already. I'll have a look. If nobody else on the board has it then it will take me a week or two to track it down. Sorry.
EDIT: Definitely not here I'm afraid

Thanks Beckstar. I can add this into my iTunes now that my pod is no longer being used as a makeshift jukebox by my ex-colleagues. I would have curled up and died if this had popped up on 'shuffle songs'. I'm still in the May closet (I wish ;D)

Gahh -- thank you, thank you!! I'm enjoying the dulcet tones of his voice right now. Beckstar, whilst I'm being a complete pain in the arse, you wouldn't happen to have a larger version of that image in your avatar, would you?

I shall brace myself P.S. Lew, I haven't found the Sungod thread, but the photo of you (well, your fur coat) and James at Waterstones is stunning. When was that taken? Looks like the girlies were all over him that day ;D UPDATE: 'kay, found the Sun God thread, hence the laboured breathing. That's not really him in the shower is it?

12 february 2006. I hope the BBC will let James do a programme on music one day. He seems to know almost as much about it than about cars.

You're all most welcome. I've got a an obsessive and anally retentive collection small library of James's TV and radio appearances so if anyone wants owt, do let me know. It's no bother to upload things if new people are missing stuff..

Well Becks, perhaps you can help me out with this one. It was a BBC radioshow, somewhere last year, in which James had selected classical music that was suited for listening to while driving. I can't remember much more than that I'm afraid. I listened to it a couple of times when it was on Listen Again, but after week it naturally was taken off. I did seperately download most of the tracks he mentioned, but perhaps you have got the whole thing?

She must change her name to Beck-Superstah now.
So is James incredibly famous in Britain -- on tv and radio quite often? Here in America, hardly anyone knows him (yet).

He's not MASSIVELY famous. As in, he's on telly and radio a bit when he has a new book or TV show to promote, but can still go for a pint in his local. But I must say he's become much more well known since, er, Richard's accident. The Wine Adventures and the C20th shows have proved that he isn't just 'the other bloke off Top Gear' and that actually he's an incredibly talented and intelligent man.
One day the BBC will see sense and bring back the wonderful Tomorrow's World with James as presenter...

These are fantastic, listening to Private Passions at the moment, we have lived parallel lives!! (re early music) I love him even more!! He is just like the music student friend of mine I had a crush on at Uni (who was in the same academic year as James, albeit at a different Uni). And I LOVE the Hilliard Ensemble! *Goes off to die with pleasure* - in the Elizabethan sense How can I thank you Beckstar!!

Lancaster was one of the choices on my UCCA form (as it was at the time). I knew all the music students cos of my singing (although I did Art). Weeps when I think of what might have been... I probably would have thought him a dork or something though!
