One more batch (I have others but these have been the best). Various interesting cars Beautiful, pristine car Spotless engine. This guy has obviously spent the entire winter in the garage, lovingly polishing his nuts...and bolts! There were 44 cars on the Porsche UK stand. These first two belong to friends of mine. Hers is on the left - the 944. He's called Mac, so comes as no surprise that's his 911 on the right. And we had five sweeps from the WWII squadron - Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane. (I know I missed a bit of one, but otherwise I was pleased with the detail, so I've posted it anyway.) Hope you've enjoyed them!

Here's a Bentley. Some people thought it was a Rolls Royce. Ah, but isn't that a T-series Bentley? The T1 and T2 were basically the same as the Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow and Silver Shadow II, built on the same chassis but with a different grille and other details :)

Yes, T2 it is - same model a certain Mr James May used to own (until he gave it away in a newspaper column). If you compare it to the MkII Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow, you'll see they're virtually identical, so it's hardly surprising people mix them up. in fact, Rolls-Royce bought out Bentley in 1931 and until 2002 they were effectively the same company (if you disregard some complicated stuff post 1998 involving the buyouts of Rolls-Royce by BMW and Bentley by Volkswagen). In fact, in London they still keep neighbouring showrooms in Berkeley Square!

Great pics dit ta for sharing No so much a car more like a two wheeled viechle ;D a Puch to be precise, my bro had one very much like the one I spotted yesterday, back in the middle 70's, (coughs) rode it like a demon and in the side of a car, friends of my parents, they stayed friends, anyway the twit I saw yesterday bumped the poor old thing up a very high kerb, idiot. Not the way to treat a very good old classic.

There was indeed a bit of weather! Warm and cloudy on the Saturday, very wet and windy on the Sunday - until 5 minutes before the planes came over! Question, as I'm not well up on the various models of Porsche - is this the model that James had (assuming it's the one he parted with recently)?

IIRC, James had a Carrera, but this one looks slightly later than his to me (hard to tell with the private plate). It had more black trim, and of course, we can't forget the massive 80s whale tail spoiler

Two good spottings today. The first one was an Ariel Atom which I was pretty sure I saw last year, parked up someone's drive just outside a large village near me. Today I saw it going up and down the main street, no question it was an Atom as the second time it passed it paused next to me, and the name-plate was very clear (and only about four feet away from me). The driver was wearing a crash helmet, which I imagine is wise.
The second was a lovely, shiny, black Audi R8 which again I've seen flashing past once before near me, but this time we crossed each other very slowly on the bend of a country lane, so I had a very clear and long look at it.
Lovely cars, both!

I found this on the internet... (on Auto Express, actually)...and I like. 'Soft-top version of flagship XK spotted testing at the Nurburgring' (so James won't be impressed, then). ' Our team of spies caught this Volvano Red prototype testing at the Nurburgring in Germany, and despite a blacked-out front bumper, there's no question about which model we're looking at.
Ever since the XKR-S Coupe was revealed at the Geneva show back in March, rumours have been circulating about the convertible variant, but it's not until now that we can confirm it's bound for production.'

Had a few nice spots over the last few days. Aston Martin DBS - what a noise! - bright orange Lotus Elise (see quite a few of those around here, but not usually that vivid) and a lovely early-mid 80s black Porsche Carrera with the froggy headlights and big whale tail spoiler, but I think the star was a gorgeous bright red Triumph GT6

I saw some good cars today. I saw a sky blue Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II (same platform as the Bentley T2), a black Aston Martin DBS, a silver Aston Martin DB9, a silver Lotus Exige (seem to see a lot of Lotuses around here, Elises and Exiges) and a black Porsche Panamera, so somebody actually bought one. Funnily enough, the weird looks are growing on me a bit. There wasn't anything exciting going on, I just live in an area where you see many nice cars

That would explain the Lotuses (Loti?). I see stacks around here - North Essex - especially Exiges. Coincidentally, on the little business park where I work a new company has just moved in which is something to do with renewable energy (I guess that translates as "sells solar panels"). The couple who run it have a BMW Z4 and a Panamera, both with 2011 plates, so there's clearly money to be made in the renewable energy market. Kinda ruins their green credentials, though.

Yep, I'm in the south Essex area - prime location for footballer-mobile spotting! Today I saw this... On a grey afternoon with endless boring traffic, a bright orange Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder is just the thing to brighten the day Mind you, I've seen some good stuff this week - on Tuesday I was in Sloane Square and saw an Aston Martin DB9 and two Vantages parked within about 100 yards of each other, and on Thursday when I was in Covent Garden I saw a Bentley Continental Supersports, which might be a bit pointless but is very striking... (If you want to see pictures, my car spots often end up on my Tumblr)

When I was at a car show a couple of weeks ago I asked the Ferrari guy if he had seen any Aston Martins in town and he said no. Our capital is Santa Fe which is a lot smaller than Albuquerque but has a higher income base. My son said he has seen a couple DB9's up there and one of course had Texas plates.

OMG, Wy, how come you get to see so many beautiful special cars??? Cos she lives in Essex, innit! Much as I love to spot Lambos and Ferraris and Astons (they're just the everyday shopping car in the village where I work), what is it about the Audi R8 that makes me nearly drive into the car in front? It's an absolute showstopper. Saw one on Saturday - all black and shiny and demonic. It had acquired a couple of outriders on sport bikes. I don't think they were actually acquainted, but they were amusing themselves with a friendly revving contest. Big noise.

The R8 Spyder is one of the most beautiful cars on the road - I was driving through the forest last year and passed a black one coming in the opposite direction. It made me say very rude words because it was just so lovely! And when we got to where we were going, there was a really unusual silver R8 parked outside the hotel, let me see if I can find a picture. It's the only one I've seen styled like this -

And..... Lambos, Ferrari's and Aston Martins the everyday shopping car in the village where you work... Jesus, I really should tell me brother he's got to go there one day... So Wy, Essex, is it a rich neighborhood I suppose? ;D

Essex is on the North East edge of London and goes all the way to the coast. Bits of it are well off. Where we are is right on the edge of London, so that's where footballers etc choose to live because you can get into town or away from it very easily. And the houses are a bit cheaper than other parts of the "commuter belt" so you have more money left to spend on cars. I can't remember the last time I went out & didn't see a Porsche. They're as common as Fords round here!
That silver R8 was in Wolverhampton though!
