No pics, unfortunately, but I was behind a Range Rover Evoque on the road yesterday, and what a good-looking and fearsome beastie it is!

I saw a Chrysler Crossfire yesterday in red at the 7-11, may BMWs of different kinds. X3s andX5s are very common. A couple DB9's, two Nissan Cubes which are as hideous as the Juke. I know it's not quite S. Ca but for one day I was in shock because we don't get that in NM. Still looking for a couple Lambos or Ferraris.

Not a sighting, but this seems the place to put it.
When the Sandero is mentioned on TG the first part of the name is always pronounced "Dayseea". I was talking to a guy the other day whose ex-partner was Romanian, and he says that this pronunciation is wrong. Apparently the 'ci' sound in Romanian in that configuration of a word is pronounced 'tch', so the name should be spoken as "Datchia" Sandero. Any confirmation of that?

However, we all tend to "localise" pronunciations of foreign proper names. Have you seen the debate about Jag-u-ar and Jagwar over on FG? Quite heated, it got. I was once mercilessly mocked by a Dane because I can't pronounce "Haribo" properly. I got my own back by telling him they were rubbish sweets anyway.

Haribo rules!!! Thought they're German, btw, not Danish - interesting! I prob pronounce them wrongly as well: Hah-rie-boh. ;D Could be 'Datchia' indeed. Once had a Romenian friend and sshe used the 'ch' often. But why then would we call it 'Dayseea' instead of how it's supposed to be? I mean, it's not that hard! I see Dacia's btw here in my country. Today, tho, I saw a couple of cool Jaaaaaags. ;D

It's been 50-ish here, the snow is melting, and the cars are starting to come out. I saw a bunch of Miatas and a Merc roadster today with the tops down, and also a Cobra.

It should be 'Dah-chee-ah'. It's from the Latin name of the Roman province where Romania is now - though interestingly, in English it's also a girl's name from the same root, and that's supposed to be pronouced Day-sha (we'd naturally pronounce it 'Day-see-ah' rather than 'Datchia'/'Dah-chee-ah' because c doesn't usually make a tc or ts sound in English as it does in many eastern European and Scandinavian languages except in imported or borrowed words).
We're always anglicising things though. Dacia's the least of our worries - most Brits pronounce Porsche 'Porsh' and Lancia comes out as 'Lan-see-ah' when it should be something closer to 'Lansch-ah'. As for BMW, thank god we don't have to attempt 'Bayerische Motoren Werke' because that would end very badly indeed - though actually, we've anglicised that too, because in German it's closer to 'Bay Em Vay'...

I thought you English people pronounced Porsche as 'PorschA'! Hammond pronounces it like that. ;D

That is the correct way Nat, it's just that MOST English-speaking folks say "Porsh", but they are wrong.

People into cars might get it right, but probably because in English the letter e on the end of a word is usually not voiced as a separate syllable That is correct (I love pronunciation and phonetics, me) If you would pronounce BMW as /Bay Em Vay/ however, you would still not pronounce it 100% correct, the /w/ is a much softer sound in comparrison to the, quite hard, sound of the /v/ But you're getting close In fact, in BE there is not a vowel or consonant that has this soft sound, but, the /w/ in BMW sounds a bit like the /w/ in "however" This is dull, I know, but can I get away when I say it's Déformation professionelle? ;D

Im VERY interested in languages as well, Mayb. So this all is very interesting! We Dutchies say 'Porsch' as well, as far as I can tell. Never knew English speaking people said 'Vay' to 'W', well, I have heard it often, always thought I heard it incorrectly, like the word 'Vine' for wine. Could have known, as the 'W' isnt often even spoken! Oops, very off-topic'ish...

Not sure quite what you mean by this, Nat, but there are no occasions when English speakers would use a "V" sound for W, unless they are trying to correctly pronounce a foreign word, like saying "Volks-vagen" instead of the normal English pronunciation of "Volks-wagon".
Vine for wine? Well, wine is produced from vines, so you've probably heard both words in the same sentence!

Finally I can contribute! While out car reviewing with my friend, he caught sight of a VW Phaeton. One of my neighbours has one of those - quite a handsome beast (the car, not the neighbour). Another neighbour has an Aston Martin Rapide and I saw him driving it last night. Breathtakingly gorgeous (again, the car, not the neighbour, who was at best disappointing...).

At the liquor store where I got a six pack of bottles of London Pride I parked next to a black Cayman S and then at Safeway there was a brand new light blue Jag XF, y'all know the ones we see on TV all the time. Very pretty.

What the heck is it? I can't read anything on it. Reverse of a robin in the wheels, looks unsafe.

I have seen more SLK's in one month than in my whole old life. I think I saw a Vanquish also but it was flying so fast I couldn't see the name. It was black, smaller than the DB9 and looked brand new. I'm not far at all from the Gallardo Batman that got stopped near Rockville, Maryland. Everday is an adventure here for cars. I'm used to low riders, pick up trucks and the usual suspects.

What the heck is it? I can't read anything on it. Reverse of a robin in the wheels, looks unsafe. It's a Messerschmitt. Messerschmitt used to be an aircraft manufacturer company, until WWII. After World War II, the company was not allowed to produce aircrafts anymore. One alternative the company came up with was the three-wheeled motorcycle/bubble car or Kabinenroller (cabinscooter) KR175 / KR200, which was designed by an aircraft engineer Fritz Fend. The cars were actually made by Fend's own company in the Messerschmitt works at Regensburg and Willy Messerschmitt had very little to do with the vehicles other than ruling that they carried his name. Production of the KR200 ceased in 1964. It actually looks a bit like a reversed Reliant Robin, but it is much smaller and just as unstable. although you could say that having two wheels at the front improves stability, contrary to the Reliant. It is a really cute car!

Agree. There were several moments when I thought "Aw, I wish TG3 were here right now!" There were so many beautiful cars, motorcycles and other stuff to look at that day! And it was all outside, beautiful day, it was just awsome!

Having never spotted one ever before in this country, in the past 2 weeks I have seen not one, but TWO Astons! I am beside myself with joy. Also, yesterday, an E-type Jag. My cup runneth over!

I saw a car yesterday that had the Aston Martin wings and my cousin claims it said Genesis on it. I cannot find an AM make for that. I know Hyundai has a Genesis but it wasn't that. The wings were very obvious. I was a passenger in the car and they passed on the left so I didn't get a good look at the name and had to rely on her. I think she's wrong but.....................Any thoughts?

I saw a Mercedes Brabus about 4 days ago. Pretty but the driver was slow as hell! I overtook him in my mom's Audi A4 and the rest is history! >
