I missed the first few minutes because I was struggling with some music. It's no good, when I've got my driving lessons out of the way I have no choice but to have piano lessons. There's only so much I can do when my hands are in the wrong position! Anyway, enjoyed what I heard - I love listening to James being James, he always sounds slightly bemused that people are as interested as they are, bless him!

He mentioned both the pay rise thing and the driving to Pole thing. And the Japanese woman thing. And the Internet joke. And whether the races are contrived. And lots more, but DD phoned me after her email was read, so will have to replay the cassette recording I made of it later. (DD, I'm sure someone will put it on whatever it is that Beckstar usually puts things on. If not I can try and record cassette to cassette, as I have some teaching resource tapes to do that with too.) All the afore-mentioned things were put to him. And he handled it all brilliantly.
And thankfully he doesn't see us as groupies (I should think not Mr Mayo) and we're all lovely ladies that he's met more than once! Aah.

Can't remember James exact response, though he did say they'd discussed it amongst themselves. Mayo referred to her as a Japanese traffic warden instead of petrol pump attendant. Anyhow expect you've all heard it by now via i-Player or wherever. |

James responded that he didn't have children, so he wasn't sure what is considered inappropriate (I'm paraphrasing). The radio host must know him fairly well, because he immediately piped up, "But you have a niece and nephew." James said yes, but he doesn't watch Top Gear with them, so he's not sure if the language is something that would cause embarassment. Many congrats to the ladies who were mentioned on the show! And it's so lovely how James defended your honour from the "groupies" aspersion. |
