Jeremy Clarkson's encyclopaedic knowledge and opinionated manner make him the companion Brits would most want to accompany them when buying a used car with 48% of the votes.
The Top Gear motor mouth was followed by 5th Gear's Tiff Needell (23%), James May (17%) and Lewis Hamilton (4%).
ah I feel sad for Richard

But extremely happy for James. He is being taken very seriously - at last! And rightly so!

Much as I love Jeremy, I'd rather take James with me, especially if I was buying second hand. He's got much more of an idea what goes on under the bonnet and could spot a pup at 50 paces Though to be honest, though I'm not a fan, if I was taking a motoring journo with me to buy a car, it would probably be Quentin Willson. He's done it all from the sales side, so would know what he was talking about. I miss his second hand car bits on Fifth Gear.

Ah Jeremy would get you a good bargain, however James would know everything there is to know about any vehicle and find the best deal for the money. I could also see him consider every single little thing and do a comparison even before setting out ;D

I'd have to say James.....he's the man, even the Green Flag bloke who looked at my car a few weeks said that
