Oh my... this will be a controversial move... But Terry at least is worth it! Grrr that Jeremy Clarkson.... Dont even get me started on flippin Rosser the T*sser... I'm sorry, I have to voice an opinion here. £18 mil for three years is INCREDIBLY EXCESSIVE. I'd do the job for a minute fraction of the price (and therefore they should hire me.. Oh hang on, wait a moment...) It just sickens me that they complain about the licence fee not going far enough and fill our screens with bleedin repeats when in reality this is where that investment really goes. I havent seen a good documentary on the beeb in months. I'm sticking with ch4 and Dave ladies! But I might just.. be pursuaded to tune into the new TG series. Just.

It's just huge amounts of money for... well, they're just people...
I don't begrudge my licence fee at all - I'm pretty sure I get my money's worth with the amount of BBC TV, radio and internet I enjoy, but I do wonder whether the enormous sums they are paying for a face or a voice could be better spent commissioning new programmes.

Oooo I take it back. I do like the Tudors that they have 'purchased' for our viewing pleasure from HBO or the like. But I cant help wondering; we could have done a similar thing alot better. Look at the Other Boleyn girl!

Why can't the BBC get with times and just advertise?? It would sort all this out!!

If the BBC would start to advertise, the presenters would be getting paid even more. And since advertisers are only intersted in high ratings, the BBC would have to gear their programming to that.

Why can't the BBC get with times and just advertise?? It would sort all this out!! If the BBC even suggested using advertising there would be outrage, uproar and possibly anarchy. There is nothing more irritating that television ads (except perhaps radio ads...) and I really can't imagine the British public tolerating it.
